Pointing out something strange
The tsunami hit the day after Christmas.
Now, there is a tsunami warning the day after Easter.

How weird is that?

3. Think of it this way...
The first earthquake hit the day after Dec 25th, which isn't in all likelihood Jesus' actual date of birth (Roman Saturnalia) and the second hit the day after March 27th, which isn't in all likelihood the actual date of Jesus' death/resurrection (variable date based on lunar calendar).

7. ... And this way
A poster pointed out on another thread that these events *also* occurred (about) 7 days after Winter Solstice and Vernal Equinox, the dates of the maximum (solstice) and zero (equinox) tilts of the Earth's axis.

Just throwing it out there...

15. Considering that those dates were borrowed from older
pre-Christian traditions and not the times those events actually happened, it doesn't have any significance. No one knows exactly when Jesus was born and died.

5. Strange indeed
And you're right about Christmas and Easter and all that. But it is quite strange. They were talking about it on CNN a little earlier.

9. Didn't imply that it wasn't anything but a coincidence
but I simply thought it was weird.
If I were trying to make a case for divine intervention, I certainly would have done so.

17. Waning of the moon after both
Edited on Tue Mar-29-05 12:15 PM by Walt Starr
They both occurred after the moon began to wane after each solar event.

Well, it's as applicable as any other conincidence with these!

18. I agree more with your assessment.
Since the movement of heavenly bodies affects the tides and other geological phenomena on earth, it could be that these events trigger earthquakes and subsequent tsunamis as well. Maybe some scientists will study this one day and come up with a working theory. IMHO

A three-metre-high tsunami struck Simeuleu Island near Aceh minutes after the huge earthquake that struck off Indonesia's western coast, Kyoto and Agence France-Presse news agencies reported.

And the fate of around 5000 people living on the isolated Banyak islands close to the epicentre of the massive earthquake remains unknown, as aftershocks continued to rattle Sumatra today.

``We are extremely concerned about the fate of 5000 people living in the Banyaks island group. We've had absolutely no news from these islands," Jude Barrand, communications officer for international aid agency SurfAid, told smh.com.au.
