Court inaction spurs vows of Conservative retaliation
"Conservatives inside and outside Congress are vowing a showdown with the federal judiciary over the Terri Schiavo case, as Republicans say courts at all levels have flouted congressional subpoenas and legislative intent that her feeding tube be reinserted pending a final decision in the case."

There you go, it was all about getting the judicial nominees they wanted.

1. Then it was the most inhumane, costly, stupid, childish
stunt of American political history. And it has already backfired in their faces.

2. Conservative retaliation? A true conservative would honor the decision.
A neocon and/or extremist on the other hand.....

3. One cannot help but wonder...
When one looks at the polls, just what sort of estimable retaliation they might mount? Shoot folks?

Or maybe, just maybe, they over-estimate themselves. You know, that is just possible.

4. Ballsy move, if that was the Rovian intent.
Using legions of misinformed, high-drama idiots to portray judges who dare do honest work as signs of the apocalypse.

If this is indeed the case, then we're in bigger trouble than we thought. As long as they control the media, they control which way the fires of emotion are fanned.

And if they achieve rule by emotions of the masses, it won't matter how much truth we uncover.

6. I don't think so
Why don't you look at the poll numbers. I know the Repub's supposedly don't, but do you? The population (70-80%) of the US think they went bonkers. I do too! If this was their ploy, can you say boomerang, before it knocks you out?

8. Sure, that's why I said it was a ballsy move.
It carries considerable risk for the GOP, but the payoff if they succeed is huge.

I hope you're right. I really do. I've been hoping the general population stops buying into this magic show for quite some time. And I've been optimistic and disappointed many times in recent years.

So this isn't a doom-n-gloom position I hold (or at least, trying to communicate).

The trouble ahead I'm seeing isn't insurmountable. But it's trouble nonetheless. I wouldn't advocate giving up or anything self-defeating.

Playing against a cheating but sane opponent is, to me, decidedly different from playing against an completely insane opponent with no boundaries whatsoever.

5. WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...
"flouted" Congressional subpoenas? That's called "the system of checks and balances", and the so-called Conservatives just got their ass checked up and down the street
