Mr. blm walked out of a restaurant today because they had FOX news on.
When they asked him what he'd like, he said, "Nothing from a place that has the channel turned to FOX news." Not loud or angry, just serious and scornful.

I was pretty shocked, since he has to stay apolitical in his job. He rarely says a word in public that would bely his politics.

I hope more like him follow suit.

5. Good for you!!!
The couple of businesses that have actually had a TV on that station have prompted me to ask "why are they/you showing a propaganda channel"?

7. Excellent!
I will do the same if I ever have the chance. Seems like most restaurants I go to have sports on most of the time. I'll take sports over Faux any time.

34. Here's what I wrote to Jasper's who had Fox on last night.
Dear Sirs,I just wanted to say that I am disturbed by the fact that your store in Germantown has chosen on several occasions to have the television tuned to the blatant propaganda channel of Fox News. I realize that your bartender may have put it on at a customer's request but I suggest that,in the future, you get in the habit of changing it back to something non partisan and non offensive like ESPN at the earliest opportunity. I am sick of having their lies and distortions shoved down my throat by businesses who want my money. The next time that I walk into your store and see that garbage on the television screen, I will turn around and walk across the parking lot to Carrabba's.

Although I haven't been to a place lately that had it on, I sure will take this action when I see it.

10. heh....I know I will. In the past, I've just harumphed and made
disapproving faces. I'll be walking out next time and let them know why.

I don't spend money at any Republican supporting business if I can possibly help it. That will now include businesses that have the tvs turned to FOX news.

14. I would do the same thing.
Having Fox News in the background while you eat is almost as bad as having everybody in the restaurant fart while you eat.

Who's gonna pay for that?

15. HaHAH! Good for Him!
A few months ago, I walked into a crowded little restaurant, and high in a corner was a wall-mounted t.v. and Shrub was doing his cheerleading gig at one of those Potemkin town halls. I didn't consciously do it, it just came out. I said in a (not LOUD) but voice everybody heard, "Arrgghh, that man is going to give me a stomach ache." The level of drone in the room went down to a stunned semi-silence. But soon afterward somebody switched the channel.

16. We did that, too. The local franchise coffee shop not only had
Fox news playing on the tv but a stack of bibles on the table beside it. (National franchise). Quit going there, but a couple of weeks ago the owner put an ad in the paper because he's apparently losing business and asked for feedback, even put in free coupons (it sounded desperate). I told him that Fox News + Bibles equals a certain right-wing fundy tone that leaves out those who want to go to a place that is religiously and politically neutral. I said if I went into a coffeehouse labeled "Christian Coffeehouse" I'd expect to see Bibles. He then said I should tell the people behind the counter to change the channel and he couldn't help it if he had Christians working there. I told him I'm not going to tell them to change the channel, maybe he should make sure the channel's not playing in the first place if he wants my business.. and that I don't care what religion the people are that are waiting on me, but having a stack of Bibles is out of line.

37. I called the national franchise office today to inquire about whether
this is their policy. They're going to check it out, but on first blush, it doesn't appear they condone having Fox News and Bibles as the tone.

I thought blm was just being really arrogant and referring to him/herself in the third person (which I like :P ). :D

That's good to hear though. No more blue money going to red people. I have boycotted all of these companies so far and will continue to do so.

19. I started a thread not too long ago about Firehouse Subs' FoxNews policy:
Apparently their top brass have decreed that all of their restaurants must show either FoxNews or sports at all times.

I love their subs, but I won't pay money to be subjected to propaganda.

32. Mr. LiW usually has to keep quiet on his politics also.
It's unfortunate.

Anyway...the locker room TVs at my gym were ALWAYS tuned to FOX news. I always changed 'em.

I once asked them to change from Fox to CNN in a car dealership waiting room and was thanked by other people who had been sitting there in mortified silence. But today, I don't think I would even ask for CNN.

36. I did the same thing
there's a restaurant on my way to work that makes a very good breakfast sandwich, never saw the TV on until the 3rd time I went there. I saw the Fox and Friends show on the tube, asked the owner if he watches that all the time and he said "only news network I watch because all the others are to liberal". I said I'll see ya. He said hey where are you going? I said "you don't like liberals? then you don't like a liberal's money and walked out. He faxes his lunch menu to our office every day which I then shred.
