The whole Schiavo stunt has backfired on them in a major way. Bushco is no doubt pissed.

The republicans who thought up this stunt have no one to blame but themselves, but that's not going to stop them from wanting to get their revenge on the Democrats.

What plan of vengeance will those clever republicans think up after this sorry episode has ended?

What are the most important issues that the republicans will want to knife us on in the near future?

Remember what happened when Newt Gingrich got mad at having to sit at the back of Air Force One during the Clinton years?

3. If they choose the nuclear option, you can bet
that there will be a HUGE backlash in this country.

10. Can someone please explain the nuclear option?
I saw this on a post yesterday and asked about it, but wasn't given any details. Is there a link?

11. Nuclear Option
The Nuclear *Nukular* option is the Senate passing a rule that it will only take 51 Senators to end a filibuster of judicial nominees.

5. Federal Judiciary
I don't think it did backfire. It was a win/win situation. If it worked, the fundies would be happy. If it didn't, it would lay the ground work for the war on the evil judges.

If people aren't enraged about the first war based on lies, why get upset over an attempt to save a one woman's life? "They erred on the side of life", no harm done.

6. Good News
Once Bush gets vindictive, the mask will come off. The Republicans have only a slight advantage, and it won't take much to swing things the other way.

12. Backfired? I Don't Think So
This issue has so distracted and riled up so many, it's the perfect smoke screen this regime needs to divert attention away from real issues like it's pillage of the treasury and an immoral invasion...while Rome burns, we get the Terri Schiavo circus or some other non-issue that the regime and corporate media manufactures to hide attention from their real damage.

The shrill rhetoric with little Democratic reponse is giving impressions that the party is in favor of this lady dying...without explaining why or refuting the lies the corporate media is putting out...fed by the fundies and DeLay, Inc. In the red and purple states, this issue is energizing the same sheeple who ignored the war and voted for this regime and falls into the phony "values" game...the one the GOOP loves to play.

Remember, on their own, the right wing would never win elections...they need Democrats and moderates to look weak or mis-step and they know how to spin it and use it for their political advantage. I don't see how you break that cycle, and I don't see any Democrats who can do it, even if we could.

If Democrats had sided with us Terri Schiavo would have her feeding tube in and would not be dying this horrible death...or would be alive today...

15. Today's DINO Said...
CSPAN had Vic Synder from Arkansas on claiming that the vote to put in the tube (which he voted for) was split among Democrats...53/47 (not mentioning the 120 or so who didn't bother to show up for this policial circus)...not only that, this doofus helped create a quorum so that late night folly could take place.

This sure doesn't sound like a well organized party speaking with a unified voice.

17. I don't think the public is going to buy the argument that we Democrats
had the moral obligation to pull the republicans out of the quicksand trap that they laid out for us.

You're right though. That's how they'll try to spin it.

Oh yeah. He's not President.

We control nothing in the federal government. I'd say we've already been beaten pretty well.

16. LOL, you are reminding me of an interview the New York Times
did with some Marines in Iraq a while back. The Marines were saying some pretty bad stuff about the US government, etc., really talking smack about the reasons for the war and how fucked it up was and the reporter said, "Aren't you worried about any backlash for saying these things?" and they laughed and one of them said, "What are they gonna do? SEND ME TO IRAQ?"

Then they had another good belly laugh.

"Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose...."

Edited on Thu Mar-24-05 11:53 AM by paula777
Both Jeb and his retarded brother ALWAYS get their way - almost like mob bosses or something. It is strange that they aren't getting their way this time and I think your right, there will be some sort of revenge.
