Bush/Fox Immigration Question seems to be splitting the Repubs
Good news for all. The Repubs are at odds with each other on this issue and I hope that it helps make the split farther and wider and more permanent.

9. OK...How?
Lots of possibilities...but who organizes this...something sorely lacking in the Democratic party right now.

Do we rally Hispanics...a neglected and drifting membership in the party...who are being targeted with the racial hate politics of the right wing vs. the exploitive nature of the corporate capitalist wing that likes the cheap labor...and appears to have the support of this regime.

Do we rally the workers? Another neglected constituency who have been caught in the middle of this situation...painted as the reason jobs have left this country (damn those people for wanting a living wage and safe working conditions) while also the reason immigrants come across in waves since corporate greed has long used migrant labor to bust out unions.

Or do we appeal to the isolationists and racists who view this as a "dirtying" of the "Amurican" gene pool. Hispanics, specifically Mexicans, are viewed as subhuman and it's this hatred that underlies a lot of what I heard discussed.

Just some thoughts...

10. we need to write letters and make phone calls
I'm not organized, I'm a democrat--so I'm stuck alone in the twilight dark with my little keyboard--however, sometimes it gets a big megaphone! Make them count!

11. Get To Your Local Democratic Party Office
Any time...just to let them know your there, will be a great start. To retake this country...and create the government needed to start stopping the damage this regime has done, we will need Democratic majorities in the House and Senate...and solid ones at that. This means winning district by district...and people like you can make a very, very big difference.

Posting here and other similar sites might feel good, but you're preaching to the choir, there are millions in your twilight dark out there who need to see some light and hope.

3. Grab the popcorn, and sit back
Because this is going to get interesting. None of the Repukes want to openly oppose the president lest they get the Eye of Death from Karl Rove. At the same time, many of them have gotten elected on being "tough" on immigration issues, and thus don't want their sheet-wearing constituents to get upset.

There are gonna be fireworks on this one.

5. Yep
What to do? Do they wanna go with the pres and risk getting all the flack that comes with that or not get re-elected? So tough! Lose-lose situation I think.

4. Three stool democracy needs darkie Mexicans....
Bottom line, the US needs all those poor Mexicans to flee the impoverish Mexican country so that they can do dirty menial work US people don't do any more. Everything has to do with the US' bottom line and Mexico's elite class.

Three stool democracy is set up like that. The poor support one leg, the middle class another, the 'we made it' richer class another, and the elite sit at the top. Elites are above all. It worked at one time but now the elites have united with the world elites to control the world.

6. Big thing, let the Mexicans come in and get them paying taxes
on their pathetically low wages and fund SS! Further attempt at breaking down the Middle Class, if you have enough "cheap labor" paying taxes you can really stick it to the Middle Class.

7. They already are
Paying income taxes and SS. (Even the feds would have to investigate if a huge agricultural company only had 5 employees on the record for paying taxes.) But they'll never see a penny out of it, because their SS numbers aren't legit.

8. Reid and Pelosi Join The Dark Side
Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi called for increased immigration, amnesty for illegal aliens, and huge increases in the number of guest workers allowed to enter the country.
