Pat Buchanan says send in US Marshals
Edited on Thu Mar-24-05 08:49 AM by pf99
Saw Pat Buchanan last night on Hardball. Says * must send in the US Marshals to rescue Terri Schiavo. OK?

Question 1 if * does not send US Marshals in will the relegious right turn on him?

Question 2 if * send in US Marshals does he risk having the vast majority turn on him? Will the vast majority call for his impeachment for disobeying a court order? Abuse of power?

Do we finally have that !@#$%^& *(()!@# in a pickle?

1. It isn't going to happen, but it is important that Pat calls for it.
Pat is buying the hype: he actually believed the rhetoric of life being sacred, that Terri Schiavo is being murdered, that Bush really cares one way or the other.

They see Bush imprisoning American citizens without trial or access to lawyers, and ignore laws, and torture contrary to statute, and declare war, and think: why can't the Big Boss just do the same here?

We all knew Bush and Congress was posturing. The fundies don't.

They will never forgive Bush for talking big and then pussying out in order to keep his numbers higher.

8. "he actually believed the rhetoric of life being sacred"
sorry if I missed the memo, but my life is certainly cherished, if not sacred, to me and I value the lives of all others. I'm no fan of Pat Buchanan, fer-sure, but I'm also not one to swallow the notion that life isn't a pretty special state of being.

11. Well, you missed something.
The rhetoric includes the proposition that allowing her--or anyone else--to die is evil.

The parents state that they would not remove the feeding tube even if it were Terri's wishes.

Pat Buchanan sees what is happening to Terri as equivalent to concentration camps.

When they say "sacred", they don't mean nice, or pretty special. It isn't consistent, or applied evenly, but they think its murder, and they aren't going to forgive Bush for suddenly turning into a law abiding moral relativist who can see how life isn't the only value working.

That's what I mean by saying the fundies are buying the hype. They aren't just jawing or posturing, like Bush and Frist, and they aren't going to be satisfied unless there is action commensurate with the rhetoric, which means, troops.

2. Pat was out of control.
What a nut job. He did get his silly ass kicked by the other guest. Pat looked and sounded like a raving lunatic. A typical conservative.

3. If we send them anywhere, it ought to be into the....
...White House and every other place occupied by the NeoCon traitors. That includes their homes and businesses...this cancer needs to be rooted out.

4. Ah, good. I'm back to disagreeing with Buch...
For awhile there we were agreeing (on the Iraq Invasion) and I was really starting to wonder, because something is defintely wrong if Pat and I are on the same page.

5. I AGREE:
Send in the troops! As long as you send them to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenus, perhaps the USA will stand a chance of getting rid of these profligate, corrupt assholes who run the country like despots!

6. I think that Buchanan probably does believe that
Edited on Thu Mar-24-05 09:23 AM by Dhalgren
Schiavo should be "saved", but I also believe that ol' Pat likes putting it to the Emperor, too. As long as Pat and others say "the President should go with what he believes is right, not what the laws or constitution say", then it puts the giggling murderer in a bind with his homicidal base. I think that Bush may actually do something like declare marshal law, just in a two block radius around the hospice - or some such crime. The bloody gimp has already alienated 70% of the country that isn't blood drinkers, if he doesn't do something for his "Eichmann" base, he'll lose them, too. He has screwed up big time, and from his history, this is when he gets twisted...

9. Outcome
Scenario #1 - The Radical Clerics and their Religious Insane followers are calling in all of the markers. They've put a stake in the ground because they've been worked up into a froth over this. They have completely convinced themselves that both Bush's have the power to send in law enforcement and take control of the situation. They want the Judiciary taken over and the independence of the Judiciary destroyed. They will accept nothing less in this case.

Scenario #2 - Extremely risky, but the payoff if successful is huge. Bush automatically becomes the dictator of a police state if he can successfully overthrow the Judiciary in this case.

13. Why not declare her an "Enemy Combatant", arrest her, and feed her
so that she can be interrogated?

It's slightly less dumb than what Pat suggests.

14. You know, you may be on to something,
clearly this issue is backfiring on the idiots.

And that's because TS is terrorizing them by not growing a new brain.

Fuck the marshalls, send in the Marines.
