Coburn's responses at town hall meeting tonight-Schiavo case, SS, etc.
Said the congressional intervention in the Schiavo case was about her 14th amendment rights; that the U.S. legislature acted only to ensure that our "activist judges" are following the constitution regarding all citizens' right to due process.

rriiggghhtttt.......................

Before beginning the question/answer session he led us all in prayer....I feel so blessed to have participated in such a sacred ritual with such a god-fearing Christian man (sarcasm off)

That was only one of many lies and obfuscations he told tonight, including we never had a surplus during the Clinton administration, that if we don't act now to "save" social security, we're doomed and we're burdening our children. He had lots of overhead transparencies full of questionable statistics and misleading charts.

One of the biggest lies was that there will be NO transition costs involved in the creation of private accounts.

The audience was rather small, maybe 100 people. The questions seemed about 60% anti-administration, 30% pro-administration and 10% neutral. If he didn't like your question, he told you that you just didn't know the facts, or that he wasn't familiar with that particular issue and if you would be so kind as to give your information to his aide, he'd look into it.

I feel slimy after being in the same room with him :puke:

3. He is a wackjob,
psychotic, delusional and the really scary part......he's well-spoken, glib and fast on his feet.

I hate my godforsaken state for electing such a sleaze ball.

4. Hey fellow Okie
good to see other blue Oklahomans here on DU.

I'm a die hard OSU fan and it broke my heart to hear that psychocoburn is an OSU alum (although he got his M.D. from OU)

5. I'm waiting for a chance to go to his house and give him an education.
I've known him very closely since 1968 when he was a little snot-nosed high-schooler (was chief pilot for his dad's company for years and flew his butt all over the country.)

Not that I expect to change his insane wingnut views but I'll get a little satisfaction out of giving him some shit. :grr:
