1. I believe that would fall under
being unfit for service if they added women to the draft.

2. Not an expert but I bet the answer is Yes and wait until the kid is born
then ship you off to boot camp. Women and Men are going to be drafted and I don't see being gay or being pregnant as a way out.

8. I doubt they'll do that.
It can take up to a year to fully recover from childbirth. They aren't going to draft pregnant women, even if women are included in the draft. There would be no point.

15. I don't think so.
You can defer *jury duty* if you have a nursing child. I'm pretty sure that, even if a draft of women occurs, they will not draft pregnant women or nursing mothers.

3. They don't draft women.
Not yet, at least.

So unless there's been some medical breakthrough that allows men to get impregnated, then no, I don't think so.

4. Yeah, I'm just thinking contingencies...would they send a new mother ...
...to war? After all, she needs to take care of the baby that the fascists care so much about, right?

5. They only care about them
before they're born. After that, they can go fuck themselves.

7. It is an interesting question
I can only reply from Vietnam years, which did not include drafting women at all. So, the following applied to men.

The first step was a school deferment or exemption.
The second step was marriage.
The third step was to get your wife pregnant.
If all of the above failed, you headed to Canada.

10. Update for 2005
The fifth step in 2005 is
to head with Canada with your same sex friend and
GET MARRIED!

Remember, we don't take gay people into the Army and
I bet there will be a market in marrying gay people - you can
always get divorced later - it's the NEW marriage exemption.

9. No...
If a woman is drafted and found to be pregnant, she would not go any further once it's proven she is.

11. If they start the draft up,
Edited on Wed Mar-23-05 09:32 PM by LeftyMom
I'll need a new DU sticker for the minivan I'll be getting.

Most of the shots they give inductees aren't safe for pregnant or lactating women (men who are in household contact with pregnant women and small children are exempt from one as well, but I forget which) so if they start registering women I may just have to have a baby or three. Can't send somebody overseas without thier shots, no shots if you're knocked up or nursing. Betcha extrended nursing would get real popular if that happened. ;)

LeftyDad would shit a brick at the idea of having another kid, but if his options were LM in (insert BFEE invasion target du jour here) or LM gets the maternity clothes out of the closet, he'd deal.

13. My Friend who's in the Air Force
had used pregnancy as a way of getting out of foreign assignments in the past---she was supposed to be sent to the Middle East back in....2000 or 2001 and whoops! She accidentally forgot to take her BC for about a month and got pregnant RIGHT before she was to be shipped out. She was allowed to stay state-side.

whoopsie, indeed!

SHe's also said that she's considered using pregnancy as a way to get out of her service contract, although I'm not sure how that works (She was supposed to retire in October of one year, wanted to get out 2 years earlier and said she could do so, or hvae the option to do so, if she got pregnant)

19. Currently, you can opt for a chapter if you are pregnant
I believe its chapter 13 (not sure)

A woman currently in the service who gets pregnant has the option of either remaining in, or getting out. Her choice.

22. A friend of mine in the Army
Got pregnant a few months before her unit found it was going to be deployed to Iraq. They allowed her to stay until 6 weeks after her little girl was born, and then she had to join her unit in Iraq. From what I understand after reading a few articles and interviews here and there about the draft (if/when it is reinstated) women will be included, and if you get pregnant, they'll wait until 6 weeks after before they take you.
