DU, I think that another "terra-ist" attack is coming shortly...
It hit me last night.

If you read theonion.com regularly, you may recall that their post-9/11 issue included a feature about how "A Mournful Nation Yearns to Care about Stupid Bullshit Again" or something to that effect. For some reason I kept coming back to this headline last night during meditation.

I remember the story featured photoshopped images around the title of Gary Condit, Britney Spears, etc. and the reader was supposed to realize how ridiculous all of that was compared to 9/11. If another attack were to happen tomorrow, the SAME HEADLINE could be ran with different images.

Now, we as Americans tend to focus upon stupid bullshit most of the time. But this time, the news media and the ** Administration are encouraging us to argue about non-national issues (Schiavo, I mean really, what the hell is this all about), or DOA proposals (essentially eliminating social security-was this ever going to happen?), or congressional hearings obviously outside of the powers of the federal govt (steroids in baseball-freedom of association anyone?)

All of this is designed to, in the language of Sarte, create a "nihilating" function in our minds to separate the events of "way back" (ie a few years ago, or even a few months ago) to create a new reality whereby one massive event could eliminate all of the built up opposition to **, ** policy, and, what I believe to be inevitable, the draft.

I have concluded, from my intensive study of history and tyrants, that there are only so many ways that people can be whipped into mass hysteria. Would your conservative brother in law have supported a military draft post 9/11? If not, ask yourself how devastating the attack had to have been to convince him that a draft was needed?

There is your answer. Extending upon William Pitt's comments slightly, I don't think all of this noise is being done simply to push thru ANWAR and the filibuster controversy. I think something much bigger is in the works.

Thank you for reading and I look forward to comments and criticism.

2. Well, many have been saying that the Sciavo case
is the perfect smoke-screen.

And I have said before that if we want to invade Iran or Syria, all we need is another attack on US soil.

I was thinking around April or May.

I've already told friends and family what I think and that I hope I'm wrong.

But if I'm right - they'll know they should listen... even though it would be too late.

6. no attack since Bush has pissed off the Saudis
Now that the Middle East sees that Bush intended to break OPEC, I think that it will become more insular, more focused on itself, I even seen reports from the FBI and Soviet intelligence that the
chance of a terror attack is unlikely.

10. Bush never intended to break up OPEC...
that is why Wolfowitz was run out. One of the few "benefits" of Iraq, from a Neo-Con point of view, was lower oil prices resulting from Iraq's supply.

Remember that WMDs was "the one thing we could all agree on", and you get broad neo-con support for the invasion. Now, after the big oil companies (of which Bush hails and is of like mind) have had a few years of high oil prices, it was time for the price to start dropping once we can get Iraq's supplies out to flood the market.

One problem though...why give up the big profits now? The American consumer is too dumb to pick up on what is happening. Keep oil prices artificially high by gettig rid of someone high enough in the administration to actually work at getting lower prices to the American consumer.

This was most of what was in this story. I encourage you to read it if you haven't:

http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=05/03/21/1455245

BTW I am NOT a Wolfowitz fan by any means...I think it is worth noting Mr. Palast's comments and evidence. It makes much more sense. Why get rid of Wolfowitz and not Rumsfailed?

Also, how has Bush pissed off the Saudis?

11. Great link, see articles, I included a interesting snip
America’s War On Terrorism, Hypocritical and Unjust, Joseph E. Abodeely, Attorney at Law, Colonel, USAR, Ret.

Hundreds of Middle Eastern men were incarcerated by the US without bond or access to lawyers. The FBI questioned hundreds of Middle Easterners and intimidated them solely because of their ethnicity. Suspected "terrorists" (Arabs and Muslims) were not allowed to have private conversations with their attorneys while convicted murderers, robbers, or child molesters were still allowed the attorney-client privilege.
Profiling of Arabs and Muslims
The word "terrorist" was made to be associated with Arabs or Muslims because most Americans were uniformed about the Middle East or Southwest Asia, and the attacks on 9/11 gave the unscrupulous the opportunity to promote an anti-Arab, anti-Muslim campaign. Ethnic profiling or religious profiling suddenly became acceptable in the interests of national security. A great many Americans do not know that all Arabs are not Muslim, and that all Muslims are not Arab. While the vast majority of the people in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran are Muslim, they are not Arab. Most Muslims are not in the Middle East; they are in Indonesia.

9. And sometimes it's just the plain old unforeseen and
unpredictable that contributes to the chaos.

Like a tsunami, for example.

Today a refinery explosion in Texas City, TX claimed 14 lives (to date) and sent another hundred or so to area hospitals.

This refinery produces 3% of the nation's daily gasoline supply.

Expect to see an immediate spike in the price of gas -- maybe 10-25 cents in the next few days -- depending on how long this refinery's production is interrupted.

Don't be surprised if you see $3.00 a gallon by Memorial Day. Wherever it is you happen to live in the good ol' USA.

(FBI has already ruled out terrorism, FWIW.)

Who needs a yellow alert if an election isn't imminent, anyway?

14. An Iraq/Iran border event. An explosion with loss of american life.
I'm not asking for this but it seems like an easy way to get our foot in the door in Iran.
Can you say "Gulf of Tonkin"?

18. They will have to be meticulous in the planning and execution if they hope
pull it off without being discovered as the treasonous bastards they truly are.

9/11 part two would not be so easy to carry out without millions of Americans & the entire World figuring out what is really going on.

This will not stop them from trying IMO

19. Well, they didn't need terrorism to implement the Vietnam/Korean wardrafts
All they're going to have to do is get another Gulf of Tonkin somewhere in the middle east and America's redneck retard population will buy it.
