6. Well
She is starving to death and that is inhumane. No one should have to suffer as they die. The real arguement should be over painless or painful right to death. If this keeps up, non-Christians will die slow, painful deaths.

9. do your research i did. you are wrong
it isnt a matter of opinion. i have been listening to people who have experienced death with loved ones. plus where teri is states otherwise, that it isnt painful. i am surprised you have been reading on htis board, and you havent seen all the massive information in teri's experience right now

do the research. listen to people that know

10. Terri Shiavo is incapable of feeling pain
all of the pain centers in her brain have deteriorated into liquid, so she is physically incapable of feeling pain.

20. A neurologist from the University of Minnesota who has examined her
did say that the area of the brain that registers pain has been destroyed. Sorry, I don't have a link. I saw him on one of the evening news shows a couple nights ago, I think it was CBS.

12. Read up on the subject......................
from what Doctors and Psychiatrists say, it's not painful at all and is really quite humane. The real suffering is being forced to live through this nightmare.
"Non-Christians will die slow, painful deaths." ? What the heck is that supposed to mean, if I may ask?

13. It isn't a suffering kind of death
How many people have to post the stories of their family members dying before it sinks through the heads of some people. Not eating is a perfectly natural way to die, happens ALL THE TIME. There is no suffering, the body just shuts down. It's NATURAL.

14. She is not starving to death and she is given pain medication
to ease the pain that she can't even feel.

She is in a hospice, for crying out loud. That's what they do there, ease the pain of dying. Do you think people go into hospices to suffer? The whole hospice movement was formed and is dedicated to making the final journey as peaceful and painless as possible.

The shell that once housed the mind and soul of Terri Schiavo will eventually succumb to the effects of dehydration, not starvation.

You need to get out of your mind the image of a sentient and suffering starvation victim in Ethiopia or Darfur or Somalia or Buchenwald because that is not the condition Terri Schiavo's body is in. She has no cerebral cortex to register "pain."

19. Gee
I make a post that someone shouldn't have to suffer while dying and I get blasted. I could care less if she is awake or not, if she wants to die, she should do it painlessly. If anyone disagrees, fine but I am not a Dr. nor do I realy care for the case. I just made my opinion in right to death in general.

21. You wrote "She is starving to death and that is inhumane"
As several of us pointed out,

1. She is NOT "starving to death"

and

2. Her death is NOT inhumane.

we believe you made an error, and we offered a correction.

you would do well to accept it graciously.

22. way back when, last friday, i thought it was horrible too
why i started asking and listening to people on this subject. i had never expereinced this. it was very informative. seems to be the consensus that while the body shuts down to die, it stops the food and liquid. and generally the body dies of dehydration, not the illness. i thought it was interesting to hear, and comforting

also they do give a morhine to stop pain. but again, most all say it is more for comfort of family memeber than the person dieing. and also in teris case, scans show she doesnt feel nor can register pain

why did people jump on it. because this should have been clearly given to the public from the media, so the public would not be having the same images as you did/do, or i did. they should be able to learn the truth on this. but media and republicans is manipulating the pure emotion and horror of the event. that is what makes this so sick what the republicans are doing

25. As I understand it, it is painless for Terri.
She is on a lot of pain medication so her body won't even know it feels hunger or thirst.

27. Why do you think this is a painful way to die? It's not.
You might look at some of the accounts in this very forum about people who have died this way.

30. SHE FEELS NOTHING !!!!!!!!! SHE HAS NO CORTEX !!!!!!!!!
"She is starving to death and that is inhumane. No one should have to suffer as they die."

She is not starving to death as if she could feel Hunger...She can't feel. END OF STORY. Look at her CT Scan. She is being artificially fed by a device that, if not available, would make this problem mute, because she would have died peacefully 15 years ago. She will die peacefully now. If a favorite pet of yours died do you say they are Starving to Death because you don't insert a feeding tube? I've heard people say this is more cruel than our treatment of animals?!!? How many people would keep a pet alive with a feeding tube if they are brain dead and can't feed themselves, and justify their actions with the statement: Well, we don't want to starve them to death! This is so ludicrous. Let this poor woman die in peace (actually that point is mute, because she's been in a state of peace for 15 years---NO PAIN) God Wants her dead. She already IS. Now, she's simply a political football. It's telling that her 20 or so court cases, each estimated at about $20,000 each (?), have been paid for by 'right to life' groups...Do you see these people on death row?

The woman killed herself because she vomited to the point of having a potassium imbalance. Where is the parent's blame for that? She was thin via an eating disorder before she met her husband. It has been shown again and again, that parent's play a MAJOR role in the development of eating disorders. Why isn't this even mentioned?

She Wanted To Starve Herself To Death in the first Place....
