and his book? Why, because he speaks of true Christian message and behavior: gives 90% of income to charity and lives off 10%; talks of rehabilitation, value of everyone's life, redemption, restoration, FORGIVENESS, visiting the imprisoned, helping widows and children, etc.
This totally against the RW funddie stance on just about everything. Of course, he will agree with them on the anti-abortion issue and that's ok by me but he isn't trying to ram his position down everyone's throat.

He also refused to have his ministry on TV because he didn't want to become a televangelist because of what they really stand for.

He sounds like a real Christian. I've Googled his name and I'll read up on him now.

When my United Methodist minister, a good guy, suggested his book, I researched him. He is very much a Gooper - despite his happy exterior. The book has some good ideas, but, like Dobson, he may be a wolf in sheep's clothing.

I've also been in a small study group based on his book.

I don't understand the cult-like following he has, but then I don't do "personality cults" well. I never saw any "rock star" appeal in any politician, from either side of the aisle.

And certainly not in any evangelist. In the latter cases, the fact that there are cult followings almost, ipso facto, disproves the sincerity of such evangelists.

He is showing good sense by staying off TV, so maybe he's not a total nutjob as most of Bush's "men of the cloth" followers are.
