LTTE: Look A Little Harder For God In Constitution
was in today's The Day, an Eastern CT newspaper,

http://www.theday.com/eng/web/news/re.aspx?re=EA837906-2FF3-4725-BAC2-E1AE25C9DA75

In response to the writer of “You won't find God in the Constitution,” published March 16, if you take a closer look, Article 7 of the U.S. Constitution refers to Jesus Christ as “Our Lord. “

Here's the passage he's referring to
The Ratification of the Conventions of nine States, shall be sufficient for the Establishment of this Constitution between the States so ratifying the Same.

Done in Convention by the Unanimous Consent of the States present the Seventeenth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven and of the Independence of the United States of America the Twelfth In witness whereof We have hereunto subscribed our Names,

GO WASHINGTON--Presidt. and deputy from Virginia

<SNIP>
Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill. This Letter writer totally ignores that this is the only reference to "god" in the Constitution and that it is done only to serve as a dating function. I guess this letter writer should also say that the Founding Fathers were Roman Catholics at heart, since the dating function they used was derived under the auspices of the Catholic Church centuries beforehand. No where did the Founding Fathers implement the Gospels or the 10 Commandments in the Constitution.

2. Using that logic,
Saying GOD DAMN IT! would indicate belief in "god" since they are both simply using a common colloquialism to get a point across.

3. I searched for a whole bunch of religion-related terms
(religion or religious or faith or god or jesus or christ or church or lord or holy or pray or prayer or worship) and found exactly 4 instances, 2 which prohibit religion in government, and 2 non-religious uses:

"Amendment I.2
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

"Article VI.

...Clause 3:

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."

"Article IV.

Section. 1.
Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State."

"Article VII.

The Ratification of the Conventions of nine States, shall be sufficient for the Establishment of this Constitution between the States so ratifying the Same.

Done in Convention by the Unanimous Consent of the States present the Seventeenth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven and of the Independence of the United States of America the Twelfth In witness whereof We have hereunto subscribed our Names,..."

Puh-leaze.

4. See how whacked out and desperate these creeps are? The only (known)
referencing point at the time the Constitution was written was b.c./a.d.. Purely a matter of form; especially when one considers the language of the document re: religion...(no "Test", no "official recognition", etc..)
