My comments to MSNBC:
Instead of just concentrating on the feeding tube and taking the family's side why don't you report on the hypocrasy of the GOP. They are trying to step between a man & his wife; they are don't mind executing the retarded but they step in for a PVS woman despite numerous legal findings; why is Terri's family so concerned about getting her nourishment now? where were they when she was a practicing bulimic? They didn't care enough to intervene then?; Bush himself signed a Texas law that caused a Houston hospital to recently pull the plug on a child because he parents couldn't afford to pay; and finally, everytime the GOP doesn't get a result they like they run to court or otherwise subvert the constitution but you and other networks continue to perpetuate the myth that Democrats "whine" their way to court.

Also, here are some things that your anchors might want to specualte about (instead of playing into the GOP's hands): what if this were a gay couple? Michael wouldn't even have a say. Why don't you talk about how this decision (life support)is one of the areas that isn't covered by civil contracts and in fact, it is one of the reasons why gays should be allowed to marry.

Why don't you take this opportunity to focus on the dangers of bulimia and its consequences. If nothing else, this story will make kids and parents more aware of the health consequences of purging.

I suppose though that to do something constructive with story isn't what the other networks are doing and I don't expect MSNBC to actually try to report news instead of GOP spin points.

3. This whole debacle

holds out the hope that by embroiling themselves in this the GOP could do itself real damage. And I say this because I think there may be a lot of people who are looking at these films of Terri and asking themselves if that is how they would like to end up. When they further consider that we are starting to live under a government that could possibly prolong their suffering indefinably, it could very well scare the hell out of some people.

I know it scares the hell out of me. I have been very clear with my wife in the past, as she has been with me, that I under no circumstances want to end up like Terri has. Now we have to consider weather the out of control government that we are currently living under could usurp our individual desires subjecting us to untold suffering on this or possibly other life decisions.

This event has at least caused my wife to start seriously considering my request that we move out of this country which I have been trying to persuade her of for the last 3 years.
