Despite a letter this month to state District Judge Randy Wilson from Andrews' lawyers announcing the settlement, Sharon Bush's legal team filed papers late Monday saying the parties have "unsuccessfully attempted to settle this case" and are ready for trial in April.
Sharon Bush now says the paternity tests she ordered are unreliable. She said the doctor who performed the test is unqualified and she has hired a new DNA expert to review the original test. The original results "are flawed and should be thrown out," Sharon Bush said in a statement. "They do not demonstrate one way or the other who fathered the child."
Sharon and Neil Bush divorced in 2003 after 23 years of marriage. During divorce proceedings, Neil Bush said he had admitted his infidelity with Maria Andrews to Sharon Bush and described the marriage as "broken" and "loveless ... for a long, long time." Bush began seeing Maria Andrews, once a volunteer for former first lady Barbara Bush, in 2002. The two married last year during a small ceremony attended by former President George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush.
