Now we're all stuck with paying for the Schiavo mess
It was bad enough when only the Florida taxpayers were getting stuck with the bills relating to this case, now the rest of the country gets stuck, too.

How much did it cost to fly * and his entourage back to Washington for his unnecessary photo-op, since any bill could have been signed in Crawford? How much will it cost to fly him back to the pig farm?

What's it costing to keep Congress going during this fiasco?

Guess who's getting stuck with the bills?

BTW, who's paying the medical bills to keep Mrs. Shiavo alive?

2. I'm sure were talking about $50,000 to $75,000 for ShrubCo's flight.
As far as Congress, I doubt there's much if any additional cost. They get their $$ wether they work or not.

I don't know how true it is, but Terri's parents said all the care for their daughter would be paid for by volunteers and donations. Her bills so far have been paid by the trust fund from the malpractice suit. There is only $50,000 remaining though, and the cost of the hospice is about $80,000 per year.

4. Terri had a 2nd undisclosed settlement
Mr.schiavo refused to disclose what was awarded to Terri.still if it came down to "who pays" I'm sure rw-er's will answer the call.My own opinion is keep her alive. When mom interacts with Terri i see a smile albeit a small one.IMO Mr. schiavo looks old seems to have aged 20 yrs. while Terri seems to have aged 10 yrs.Mr. schiavo has money on his mind, hey a gal/wife and 2 kids home and good-life for all requires money.Life insurance, book, movie deals .Why doesn't Mr.schiavo divorce her and move on.Terri has many who love her will care for her and give her badly needed therapy.screw mike and his obsession to see his wife dead...  :smoke:

5. So you can read minds
Listen, if you want to talk facts rather than RW talking points, go to www.abstractappeal.com Read the court documents and also read up on Terri Schiavo's condition.

8. I disagree..
Terri smiled as best she can when mom spoke with her.I heard Terri respond "mom" as best she could.Terri appears comfortable when mom and dad hug her.Terri is well loved and wanted by family and friends.when I hear Terri say,"kill me please".Mr. Schiavo has money on the mind.I understand for 2 yrs. Mr.Schiavo supported his wife, then the check from the 1st settlement/judgement came in.A new Mr. Schiavo emerged,"Terri told me to kill her in the event she couldn't eat".
A 12 yr.old lives downstairs with severe autism, she cant speak a word, she dont eat solids and after 6 yrs of special care she still has hope of a life without supervision.
as for Terri, after 15 yrs. she may not be better but at least she's not in worse condition......
SAVE TERRI:mad:  :dem:

9. Fine Jimmy, but....
....remember the outrage should be that Congress and the White House have stomped on the separation of powers.

This case has been heavily adjudicated by the state courts in Florida, wholly within their jurisdiction.

To have another "trial" by the Fed government and the court of public opinion is ridiculous.

I frankly don't give two sh*ts which way the state courts went in Florida, but it was DECIDED there.

6. Badly needed therapy? What therapy will help her?
She didn't respond to therapy. She can't.

7. Just what kind of therapy do you know about that the Drs don't?
I have been listening to all this BS with true disgust!

The other day, I told my husband "If you, or anyone else tries to do this to me, I swear I will haunt you till the day you die!"

Yes, I have a living will, and I have updated it since the Shiavo fiasco.

I can't recall where I read it, but somewhere I read that Terri or Michael had a relative that was in a similar situation that she is now. She told her husband and several relatives and friends she NEVER wanted that to be her.

I experienced the same thing about 15 years ago when I visited an Uncle who was in the same state as Terri. His responses were the same, and he had the feeding tube. When we left that room after visiting him, I said I NEVER WANT TO BE IN THAT SITUATION! I had a living will drafted within a week.

11. I know I should just stay away but I can't
If you want about creative financing, what about the wingnut radicals supporting the Schindlers for the past few years? That's what they don't want to lose--not Terri.
Michael Schiavo's attorney said tonight they haven't received any money since the first settlement and he has been working pro-bono for the last 3 years.
Compare that to the multitudes of paid medical whores, attorneys and generalized freak show that seem to be drawn to the Schindlers.

3. I would pay any cost to spare the life of a person who wanted to live
so that isn't the issue for me.

Granted, this is a dog and pony show by a bunch of people who could give a flying fuck about women or the disabled, so that chaps my ass..but I would pay any tax to care for the infirm who wish to be kept alive and don't want a dollars and cents decision determining if they get to live or not. That isn't the case in this case though.
