Any comments about the track records of the judges on the panel? We know about Pryor. He is a Bush appointee.

1. OMG - Pryor
He's one of the ones the Dems blocked for appointment last year, then GWB gave him a recess appointment during a congressional break last year.

Here's a ton of information on him:
http://saveourcourts.civilrights.org/nominees/nominees/pryor.html

Just a sample:
"Pryor's record reveals him to be an ultra-conservative legal activist whose record disqualifies him from a lifetime appointment to the federal judiciary. As Alabama Attorney General, Pryor has demonstrated a commitment to rolling back the clock on federal protections against discrimination based on race, gender, age, and disability. He has pushed his extremist agenda not only through litigation in which Alabama was a party, but also by electing to file amicus briefs in cases in which Alabama was not involved, and through numerous public speeches that make clear that the ideological positions he has taken in these cases are his own."

5. Isn't it amazing how the Republicans
have thrown "federalism" and "states rights" out the window again and again in the last couple of years. I wonder what the Federalist Society has to say about the removal of the Schiavo matter to federal court by the U.S. Congress. Incredible. Now we Democrats are the federalists. Who would have thought. Topsy-turvy. What's next? Republicans advocating slavery? Whoops! The Bankruptcy Bill -- I guess they are already there.

2. My first jury trial out of law school was before Judge Dubina
when he was a Federal District Court Judge. He was the nicest judge I ever went before. Lots of judges are jerks to young lawyers, but he was kind and respectful.

3. Let's hope Dubina is on the panel.
And Pryor is not. I'm not a doctor, so I can't understand or judge the merits of the medical dispute. I hope the members of the panel will be sane, conscientious judges who can write good opinions. Although not very important in the grand scheme of things, this matter touches on our emotions in a strange way. I hope we get sensible, stable, objective judges to decide this appeal -- judges without obvious political agendas -- judges who inspire confidence in their decision.
