"Why is everyone on the panel a republican?" "They aren't, they're..."
I am at my friend's house. They are a married couple, both liberal and vote Dem, but not particularly political.

He suggested watching the Sunday morning talk shows and I said I'd rather pluck out my eyeballs. But just for shits and grins, I agreed.

They normally never watch these shows, and I once did but do not any longer.

When we were watching one that had Gwen Ifill and a few others, they kept going on and on, on EVERY issue about how bad "this is for Democrats." And what Democrats have to do, what a horrible position this puts them in, blah blah blah, negative Dem bashing non-stop.

My friend looks at me and says "Why is everyone on the panel a republican?"

I said, "They aren't, they're JOURNALISTS."

He looked scared, said he was disgusted, turned the channel.

'Nuff said.

2. No kidding.
When someone who never watches these shows and has no idea who these people are, but concludes they are all repukes, that is VERY telling to me.

3. I never watch those shows either and I used to be a loyal fan.
I think the tipping point was when Russert giggled and laughed through an ENTIRE hour with a couple of other "journalists" discussing politics and the Bush administration. I can't bear to watch even a minute now, no matter who is on.

8. Me too. I used to watch every week but now, unless someone I
want to see is on, I don't.

They are so one-sided now it is disgusting.

Their favorite trick (MTP has been especially good at this one) is having one or two "straight news" journalists on to balance out the two conservative (or neoconservative)columnist/pundits. That is balanced now!

I believe they think since Democrats don't control any of the branches of Government, they are just talking to the people in positions of power. How "democratic"!

5. It's absolutely ridiculous.
That's exactly what I thought: Dems aren't even IN CHARGE and yet, the onus is always on us? WHAT THE FUCK?

I think more of the onus should obviously be on the people IN CHARGE.

What a no-brainer.

7. Dem's are now like baby seals...
And republicans, and their MSM supporters, are wielding the clubs.
They intend to beat us, until our brains are pate, and the ice is completely blood red.

They want us eviscerated, they want us dead, and they want that forever.

It's sad, and it's lethal to, and for, our democracy.

Until people start to wake up like your friends, one by one, house by house, we are truly screwed.

6. I was just watching Fox News sunday
3 repukes(one of them an architect of the neo-con movement) plus the repuke host and Juan Williams, who is a democrat about as much as Ben Nelson is, eventhough I do like Juan usually. Juan has the gaul to not completely agree with Fred Barnes and Bill Krystol is off camera snickering. I think that is completely unacceptable. NO respect at all for a slightly different POV and no one cares. Yeah, let's have a different MODERATE POV on so we can laugh at how stupid the liberal is. I can't believe I watch that crap.

11. Hume is the worst. I can't stand to watch that show anymore. I
had hoped Chris Wallace might be better then Snow but, of course not.

I'm always amazed at the transformation in reporters when they go to Faux. They become unrecognizable.

16. I give Chris Wallace more credit than Tony Snow
Tony Snow is like Sean Hanitty without the following.

9. I have a girlfriend who is pretty politically aware, but whenever I start
Edited on Sun Mar-20-05 12:21 PM by BrklynLiberal
ranting at her about Bush and his minions she starts telling me to calm down, relax, get a life, ..etc etc.
Well guess what. This morning she called me ranting and raving and cursing at Bush. She could not believe that he was actually cutting a trip short to sign this bill about Shiavo. She was enraged that he and his minions had the nerve to interfere in the private decision of a family! I told her about the baby in Texas where it went the opposite way, but that was a poor, black baby. And how this was a distraction from the coverage of the war protests. She was spitting mad. I was almost laughing at her, because she was sounding like me..shouting and cursing...saying the most horrible things about Bush and his family!
Amazing. Where the hell has she been, and what the hell did she think I had been talking about the past 5 years!!
It is astonishing how thick some people can be until that moment of enlightenment. Guess we just never know exactly what it will take for each person to suddenly awaken to the realization of what the hell is going on in this country.
I was amazed at how livid this friend was...but very gratified that she had finally awakened from her sleep.

12. Different people wake up at different times and from different issues.
If I didn't have the internet, I be pissed and feeling alone watching the Corp. media.

I'm still pissed but I don't feel alone plus I know about a lot of things that the news channels and my Repub newspaper (I've given it two chances and canceled it twice now)don't ever report.

I still wouldn't believe the MSM, but I wouldn't have an inkling about how bad things have really gotten.

They were chortling with glee over Bush's CONFIDENCE and how his FAULTS are really his STRENGTHS. Absolutely horrifying.

18. I was hanging out with some of my friends last night
I talked about the protest and how we have to make our voices heard. They said that's what the news is for. I asked them how many US soldiers had been killed in Iraq. The closest guess was around a thousand. I asked them how many Iraqi's had been killed. Not one person knew. I asked them about Scott Peterson, Michael Jackson and the Schaivo case. They all knew what was going on.

We went into my office and did a little surfing of the National Media vs the American Media. They left with a list of blogs and foreign news sites that I asked them to compare to the nightly news. I asked them to keep notes and promised to feed them again next Saturday if they completed their mission.

I think I'm on to something here... If you feed them they will learn. :)
