Shut the Senate down
Michael Reagan brands Democrats as the “Party of Obstruction” and dismisses Sen. Reid’s threat to shut down Senate business as “more evidence of the existence of a Democrat death wish.” Sen. Reid, Reagan colorfully opines, has “pledged himself to lift high the banner of obstructionism and lead his shrinking contingent of Democrats in the Senate even deeper into an arid electoral desert where the bones of his former Democrat colleagues (who lost reelection bids in November) lie bleaching in the sun.”

Sean Rushton of the Committee for Justice calls Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid’s statement yesterday threatening to shut down Senate business should GOP Senators carry out the so-called “nuclear option” against the use of Democrats’ filibuster, "kabuki theater for wealthy, liberal, Democratic financial supporters" and that if Democrats actually carried out their threat, it would be "political suicide." "Smart Democrats want the Republicans to take the filibuster away from them,” Rushton tells The Washington Times. “They know judicial filibusters are hurting them politically."

Focus on the Family’s Tom Minnery takes Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid to task for his letter to Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.): "Today we have witnessed an unbelievable act of arrogance by Senate Democrats," Minnery said. "By threatening to effectively shut down the Senate, they have displayed the true depth of their intolerant and vehement opposition to judges who would strictly interpret and apply the Constitution. Sen. Reid and his colleagues have themselves argued in the past that all nominees deserve an up-or-down vote – that is, until it served their agenda to change their tune."

Why are the RW'ers so concerned about the well being of the Democratic Party? It sounds almost as though they care about us when they say we shouldn't try to shut down the Senate.

We should have shut down the government a long time ago, we should not have to deal with a President and the majority Party in Congress whose 'power' is illegitimate. (They have been given their power from Diebold, ES&S, and Choicepoint) There is no reason we should have ever worked with these Infiltrators of our Government.

Senator Reid, shut down the Senate, do what you need to do to weaken the power of the Party of Thieves and return America back to the People.

1. No, you're wrong. The Repukes have our best interest in mind!
You know Reid is on the right path. I knew when my Repuke colleagues at work started telling me that Howard Dean was a bad choice, that it was exactly the right choice. They say these things with such sincerity, the sociopathic shits.

9. BINGO! How many sheeple actually watch C-SPAN?
THAT is the only way one would know what the hell is going down. NO ONE, but we political junkies, watches C-SPAN. The Dems shut down the government, the sheeple's eyes will be wide open. NOT what the repukes want!

3. Just like they were soo concerned for us
when they saw that Dr.Dean was going to win the chair of the DNC.

Anytime those bastids "lovingly" want to offer advice, we know we are on the right track.

SHUT IT DOWN!!!! We should have done so a while ago.

6. A principled response to tyranny is to not participate in it.
Edited on Fri Mar-18-05 12:27 PM by HereSince1628
Death in the interest of progressing the fight against tyranny is enviable to the dishonor of caving in to it.

That sentiment is part of the American personality if not human nature in general.

Fighters against tyranny include personalities such as Zapata, who declared "It is better to die on your feet, than to live on your knees."

Only a conservative, with an innate fear of death, would see sacrifice in a just cause as a senseless death wish.

7. Same thing as
when we offer friendly advice to the Repukes, we either want them to adopt a position more in line with our own, or we want them to hurt themselves.

8. One of the more comical things that I remember during the impeachment:
Rush Limbaugh pointing out that, while the impeachment was progressing, tying up the Congress, the economy was booming - BECAUSE CONGRESS WAS DOING NOTHING!

Someone musta slapped him upside the head with the fact that it was a REPUBLICAN-CONTROLLED HOUSE AND SENATE THAT WERE DOING NOTHING, AND THE COUNTRY WAS DOING FINE BECAUSE OF IT!
