An email from Barbara Boxer.
Thank you so much for your support! More than 21,000 Americans -- including you -- have already come forward to sign my petition and demand that Senate Republican Leader Bill Frist halt efforts to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling.

But we've got to do more. In the final hours of this critical debate on the Senate floor, I am appealing for your help.

Invite all of your friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues to join us in this fight!

Right-wing Republicans are trying to hijack the legislative process by sneaking this ANWR provision into the budget bill. It has no business in the budget bill, but they know they can't get it passed any other way.

Well we can't let them get away with this.

Opening ANWR to drilling is bad for our environment
Opening ANWR to drilling won't lower our gas prices
Opening ANWR to drilling won't produce more than 6 months worth of oil
Opening ANWR to drilling won't even produce any oil for 10 years -- but it will put our environment at risk right away
Opening ANWR to drilling won't solve our energy problems -- but developing alternative energy sources, raising fuel efficiency standards of SUVs and automobiles, and other common-sense approaches can
Opening ANWR to drilling sets a terrible precedent -- what's next? Yosemite? The Grand Canyon? The Florida coastline?
Stand up against Bill Frist and right-wing Republican efforts to open up the Alaskan wilderness for oil drilling -- invite everyone you know to sign my petition today!

Help me preserve this pristine Alaskan wilderness area. And let the Republican leadership know that we won't forget the votes they cast.

In Friendship,

Barbara Boxer
U.S. Senator

1. I'm proud to say that Boxer is my senator
I sleep in a night shirt that I bought to support her last campaign.

Not if we can just get rid of the Gropinator
