For anyone interested in info on the death of journalist Gary Webb --
there's a lengthy article in the Los Angeles Times:

Written in pain
By Tina Daunt, Times Staff Writer

Gary Webb planned his death with polite precision.

He typed out four lengthy suicide notes and put them in the mail to family members. He placed his prearranged cremation certificate and Social Security card on the kitchen counter of his suburban Sacramento home. He put the keys to his cars and motorcycles in an envelope addressed to his oldest son.

All his belongings — among them numerous awards from his years as an investigative reporter — were packed and neatly stacked in boxes in a corner of his living room. He left a note on the door. "Please do not enter. Call 911 for assistance. Thank you."

Then, sometime during the evening of Dec. 9, Webb, age 49, went into his bedroom. He put his driver's license on the bed next to him and placed an old .38-caliber revolver near his right ear....

4. Yes. I remain unconvinced. None of those things are proof of suicide.
If he was to be "suicided" and he was not conveniently in a war zone or a small plane, the planners would have to go to a lot more effort to make it believable.

What would make me doubt involuntary "suicide" is NOT a list of notes and keys and door signs, which could be set up by others with a full information, but medical tests by his doctor showing something like a brain tumor or some other irreversible oncoming catastrophe. In the absence of that, I believe this was a murder carefully planned to look like a suicide. They blew the kill, though, and they couldn't have any chances that he might recover and tell the truth, so they shot him in the head AGAIN.

Sorry, I know you mean well with this post, but I remain unconvinced.

7. From the article --
"When he pulled the trigger, the bullet sliced down through his face, exiting at his left cheek, a non-fatal wound. He pulled the trigger again. The second shot, coroner's investigators believe, nicked an artery."

2. Wow, very good article.
Thanks for posting. It makes it more understandable and I think it makes it more clear that it probably was suicide.

3. While I believe Webb killed himself, a funny thing about the LA Times:
Edited on Wed Mar-16-05 02:03 PM by Minstrel Boy
on Saturday, they published an article on suspicious "suicides" and "accidents" in the Ukraine. One was suspicious chiefly because the man had apparently shot himself twice in the head.

The LA Times, which did much to drive Webb to an early grave, and even pissed on his grave in its obituary, has no objection to conspiracy theories, so long as they pertain only to other countries.

I wrote about it here:

5. Only shows that it was a thoroughly well-planned murder.
