1. Repealing the tax cuts for Hummer will save as much oil as ANWR
would produce.

4. This was a good intended Tax Cut
Edited on Wed Mar-16-05 12:41 PM by happyslug
The Tax deduction was intended for Farmers who needed a big truck for their farm use. Farmers often use their personal trucks for farm purposes, so the deduction was created to permit such Farmers (and other businessmen who use trucks) to take the deduction for their personal Truck provided it sometimes was used for business. The Business intended was what a Pick-up is generally use for on a farm, general hauling but the definition of "Truck" was so broad the Hummer fitted into the definition.

The solution would be to restrict such deduction to trucks with beds, thus a Farmer could still buy his four door work truck but a Hummer Buyer could not buy his Hummer.

Anyway with the present price of Gasoline all of this may be moot, the Farmers will still have to have their pickups and thus the deduction should be continued but with the price of Gasoline Hummers will slowly die off do to the high cost of operating them.

6. I understand that, however...

they should have written in language, that would have prevented the abuse of it, that is taking place. Those are not farmers I see driving those idiotic contraptions, on the streets near me.

7. Well, the good news is...
In 2001 the exemption was $100,000 per vehicle. This year it was reduced to $25,000.

Now is it understandable why Arnold has a whole stable of the beasts???

I saw a Hummer "Limosine" on the streets the other day - OMG what a huge, ugly monstrosity! It was about as long as 3 regular hummers and wider. Tall and big and monstorous-looking. If a regular hummer gets about 6 mpg, I wonder what sort of mpg this thing gets???
