Was just in downtown Chicago, and saw 2.37 a gallon for regular (87) unleaded. Holy Schnikes!!! What's the highest you've seen? Please post location, and date.

12. I think I am overtired again...I start loosing my mind about this time
every day LOL...I was making my own estimate as to how high prices would rise, not how much they are currently. I had posted on another thread asking How much people thought gas prices would rise and how low the dollar would drop, not the actual prices. Sorry. I guess I better go to bed, been at the box too long and all day at work at the box, crossed eyed!

$2.15.9 at a Shell vs $2.21.9 when I went to work today.

It's always higher downtown.

8. $2.19 unleaded regular in mid-Michigan
Smallish town, about 200,000 people. That was last week but it's come back down to about $2.07 a gallon.

13. Just filled up at $2.85 per gallon.
Actually, it was $.86 per litre Canadian, which works out to roughly $2.85 a gallon US. You know, most people around the world pay higher gas prices than in the US; but then again, everywhere but in the US, it makes people buy fuel-efficient cars.

Here in PEI, the car you encounter most often is the Honda Civic (BTW, my Civic gets 39 mpg city, 51 mpg highway).

20. Does Your Oil Go Down and Come Back?
I assume the oil you burn comes from the North Slope...are there local refineries that can turn the crude into oil products or do you have to ship the crude south, have it refined there and then back?

Reason I ask is if you are in such an oil rich state, one would think you'd be immune and have lower prices than the rest of us who have to pay not only the per-barrel price but the high costs of transport.

Cheers.

BTW...2.19 in suburban Chicago. I saw a station in downtown that was at 2.59 for regular unleaded this afternoon.

23. We have a couple of refineries in Kenai, I believe...
...but most of the oil goes Outside. I have to admit I'm not fully informed on this. Maybe some of the other Alaskan DUers know more. I have noticed though that even though the gasoline prices keep going up and down, we are generally at the lower end of the spectrum.

25. I saw $1.99 here in Southwestern Virginia last night
I only looked at one gas station though, so there might be some that are over $2.00 - I'll look again on the way home from work.

26. 2.53
San Francisco, summer 2000. I nearly crapped my pants, but I just got enough gas to get back to the valley and bought more (at a much lower rate) closer to home.

27. It's still around that in the SFBA
In Pacifica this morning I saw 2.39 for the cheap stuff at the Texaco. And has anyone else noticed that the grades are no longer 10 cents apart? The Shell by me (and now others) started jumping 12-15 cents between 88 and 92 octane.
