Bono may head World Bank

Front man of Irish U2, rock idol and social activist Bono may become the next to head World Bank, U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow has said on ABC's ‘This Week.’ Snow said that he wouldn't rule out Irish rock star as a potential successor to current World Bank President John Wolfensohn.

Wolfensohn is leaving the post June 1, and U.S. Treasury Secretary considers that Bono has got the right background for such a job: ‘He's somebody I admire. He does a lot of good in this world of economic development.’

How long before they spring the REAL successor on us?:

2. Come on...they're pulling out leg here.
Can anyone actually imagine the singer of "Sunday Bloody Sunday" as head of the World Bank?

Can't they wait just a few weeks...April 1st isn't that far off...

3. Bono has done a TREMENDOUS amount of work on these issues
He's one of the most dedicated men out there trying to raise awareness on third world debt (which is something that the general public is EXTREMELY ignorant on) and HIV/AIDS issues in Africa.
He's a great humanitarian and I think he would do a lot of good things in the position with his image and popularity.

Colin Powell. That's right, the guy who stood up before the international community and swore that not only did Saddam posess every toxin known to science, he had also kidnapped the Lindbergh baby and sold Jenna Bush her fake ID.

Bono is an even bigger idiot than we knew.

Edited for grammar
