Dear Friend,
I wanted you to know that on Monday, Elizabeth had a lumpectomy to remove the cancer from her breast. She is resting comfortably and our doctors believe that the surgery was a success. We are so grateful to all of the staff at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for their work on her surgery and everyone at Georgetown University Hospital for getting Elizabeth through her chemotherapy treatment. They took such great care of us during a very difficult time.
The prognosis continues to be very positive. Each step in Elizabeth's treatment proves that she is a fighter and that she is going to beat this.
Since the day we learned about the cancer, we have felt your prayers and good wishes. Every note, every email, every kind word we have received has held us up and given us strength. And we are blessed to be surrounded by a loving family, supportive friends, and the best health care in the world. I want to especially thank all of you who actively participate in the One America Blog. Your kind posts and concerns have truly helped us through these trying times.
Elizabeth, the kids and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your well wishes and prayers.
Your friend,
John
