Does the outrage factor seem unusually large tonight?
I can't remember the last time there were this many breaking stories in just one day that set my blood boiling:

Roll Call: Rumsfeld dines with Fox News CEO
WP: Foreign Agent Paid For Trips by Lawmakers
NYT: U.S. Says It Has Withdrawn From World Judicial Body
ABC News: Secret FBI report questions Al Qaeda capabilities
U.S. Says Chavez's Venezuela Bad Example for Latam
U.S. Bullets Found in Body Armor of Dead Bulgarian
Ex-Marine Says Public Version of Saddam Capture Fiction

I know we're all susceptible to "outrage overload" these days, but today really takes the cake. And with the Senate possibly going nuclear tomorrow, this could be but the very beginning.

What in blazes will it take for the rest of America to wake up -- and quickly? Figure that anywhere from one-half to two-thirds of the people you see tomorrow probably won't know anything at all about most of these stories -- and, of those who do, about one-half of them probably are Bush supporters who think everything is just fine and dandy and that these stories are biased or outright lies.

And given that the corporate media aren't going to do anything to put these stories in one handy place, explained in easy-to-understand terms that your basic fifth-grade education can grasp, how do we go about saving this republic?

a major economic collapse would do it- if you need shorter term outrage, try a virulent pandemic. Lot's of dead friends and relatives usually sets people to looking for someone to blame- and the well to do aren't immune to that hazard....

Another major war and defeat would probably help, too.

Of course, Bush could well hit the trifecta....
