Could McCain-Feingold be changed to prevent
the contributions which led Senators to support the bankruptcy bill?

How could Ken Salazar (D-CO), who was just elected to the Senate in 2004 with McCain-Feingold in effect, still be influenced by the credit card companies to vote for cloture?

Campaign contributions by credit card companies are blamed for the support of the bill at:

1. I don't think they were all necessarily bought.
Salazar seems to be trying not to ruffle any feathers... Either that or he was a Republican plant. =)

3. Yeah but you are not a constituent. CO isn't a blue state.
Remember Obama has voted poorly too. The Senate is probably the most conservative part of government (in practice not ideology) and if they came out as freshmen senators doing what Kennedy and Boxer are doing it might cost them their jobs.

I'm willing to give them at least a partial pass on their mis-votes. That can not be said for longtime senators like Joe Lieberman or powerful ones like Diane Feinstein

4. How about more limits on Political Action Committees?
How much can PACs give now?
