My letter to WWTV in Cadillac, MI (re: Dan Rather)
I'm a CBS viewer in Cincinnati, and heard about your plans for Dan Rather through USA Today. If it makes you feel any better, the CBS affiliate here put a poll up on its site asking if Rather should've retired sooner.

That was sarcasm, of course - though sadly, the part about the Cincinnati affiliate is true. I seriously doubt your contract with CBS allows you to pick and choose what you air, so the push-poll you conducted was obviously intended as a stunt. A rather disgusting one.

Regardless of the politics of your general manager or news editor, Dan Rather does not deserve this kind of treatment -- not only because today was his last broadcast, but because the guy has more years in journalism than probably most of your staff put together. Way to piss on his retirement party.

You deserve whatever whirlwind you reap from this -- which probably won't be much, given the apathy and stupidity of half the country. At most, I imagine you'll have learned not to at least not *appear* biased in the future. Sad.

1. Good letter.
Yet another example from the station of a RW apology for the offense it caused, not an apology for a inappropriate stunt.

2. I grew up watching the idiots on WWTV.
They are a bunch of smug, fascist idiots, IMHO. The news department seems to hire those who like think that they are big fish in a much bigger pond than they are.

They probably don't understand the meaning of "biased."

Their weatherperson gets an orgasm every time there's the possibility of more than 6 inches of snow.

Many people in my hometown, which is on the edge of their viewing area, have switched to the ABC affiliate, WZZM, in relatively more progressive Grand Rapids, home of Amway and the Salt Lake City of the Midwest.

3. One "W" is not enough, they need 2?

Two two no dubya's and call me in the morning.
