Has your insurance company contacted you yet for your "annual review"??
Sate farm called us last week to set our "review" up.. I asked him why after almost 40 years with State Farm, they all of a sudden needed a "review".. The agent said that with the "new laws" they were being asked to do this.

I know it;s no biggie, but it felt like being called to the principal's office:(

4. I wouldn't worry then
Those kind of policies are fairly easy to secure from someone. But housing insurance is the real killer -- there is considerable pressure in the industry to drop a policy if you've ever filed a claim.

5. I doubt there is a new law at the state level that requires you to meet
face to face. It is likely that he meant that there are new laws in effect, and it is State Farm's policy to try to review every insurance policy.

We have American Family Insurance. We switched to them when we moved into this house 18 months ago. After about a year, AFI sent our agent packing and we got a new AFI agent. Same company, different guy.

The new guy called me up and said he wanted to set up a meeting to review our insurance. I told him that I had set up the insurance approximately a year ago, nothing had changed on my end, and I was quite comfortable with the coverage. I told him that neither my dh nor I had the time to sit down with him, but thanks and have a nice day.

If you don't want to meet with him, and you're happy with the level of coverage and don't want to tweak it, then I doubt you're obligated to do so.

6. no
Our auto policy renews in a few weeks, GEICO already sent us the bill, our new prrof of insurance cards, etc. No review, paperwork to fill out or calls from them.

Does "review" mean they're dropping your policy for some reason? That would be my first thought.

Depending on the life policy, maybe they have to keep a copy of your ID and such, like banks have to now to prevent money laundering or whatever the reason is.

9. Our old agent retired, and the new guy is the one who called
I told him that nothing had changed.. Oh well we need to add the truck we bought to the policy anyway, so we're going to go :) It just annoyed me that they would call us.. We always pay on time (ahead of due date) and never file claims.. :)

8. Are you sure this isn't a sales call?
Edited on Wed Mar-09-05 12:20 PM by CindyDale
Just an idea: maybe it's a scheme to get you to buy more coverage. Also, some insurers are getting people to buy market value rather than replacement value policies. In some cases, market value is higher than replacement value so they get more money. I encountered an insurer whose policy required me to get coverage that was almost double what I was paying for the property, based on per foot market value estimates.

11. Yes, it's a sales tactic
Probably want to sell you life insurance. I have State Farm too, they send a letter every year, which I decline.

There are no new laws, he's BS'ing you.
