The True Face of the Republican Party Revealed.
Edited on Sun Mar-06-05 08:45 PM by The Whiskey Priest

It is beyond time to tote up and call the Republican Party to task for the last four and a-third years…

Leaving the war aside….the lies involved there should be enough to sicken the American psychic…we will look only to those injurious acts that have been championed by the Right Wing Republican Party.

Massive Tax cuts the wealthiest class
Legislation allowing Corporations to raid worker’s pension funds of 80 billion dollars
Using public funds to promote religion
Symbolic response to the most grievous corporate malfeasance in the nation’s history
Shielding political hacks that committed a federal crime by exposing a CIA operative
Giving national secrets to an Iraqi that turned out to be in the pay of Iran
Lip service to the solving the crime of mailing anthrax leading to the death of 15 people
Ending overtime for a large class of workers
Driving the country into massive debt
Turning the free press into a propaganda arm of the right wing
Relieving Corporations and other malefactors of financial responsibility by capping punitive damages
Reliving Corporations and other malefactors of financial responsibility by moving class action law suits from state to federal courts
Drastic reduction in funding for all regulator agencies, EPA, SEC, FDA to name a few

Now comes this….the Republican Party is introducing an amendment to repeal the 40 hour work week. If you are a worker you now must work over 50 a week to be entitled to overtime pay. Senator Santorum is offering the bill…….see another post for fuller details….

I know that is an incomplete listing of all the acts that the Republican Party is guilty of…

please feel free to add more…let's set aside the war for a moment, it is of totally different charge.

1. Help me with this one
How is 40 in one week different than 80 in two weeks? I'm not being an ass (intentionally) I just want to know.

3. Rapacious destruction of our planet by ignoring global warming &
giving polluters free reign.

Condoning and authorizing torture in violation of the Geneva Convention.

Committing war crimes and allowing war criminals to remain unpunished.

Ignoring Constitutional protections and civil liberties by imprisoning citizens indefinitely, without charges or legal proceedings.

Rigging elections through tampering with partisan-owned voting machines, suppressing minority voters, and using other means to seize power, subverting the Democratic process.

5. Don't leave the War aside... it was the 'cover of darkness' that allowed
all these neoliberal changes to the economy & regulations. The War was a requirement. Because just as a mama cat would never ignore a kitten... an Americans do not like to abandon their fighting men & women.

They knew it from the begining. In order for the elites to dominate the world in: how the 'base economy has to be' they imposed it on USA under the cover of darkness. Now they can spread it to the rest of the world using Capital flight as the big stick.

They will not allow the inclusion of great ideas like Universal Health Care in the 'base economy neocon model'even though it works more EFFICIENT than the market model in delivery. Corporations do not like that and have managed to stop its implementation even though it was very popular with a majority of the people.

Right you are that we have to be ready to fight for our beliefs that to invest in human beings is the only way to be a nation.

War was the cloak. And Next month they will have us all cheering for the democracies breaking out in the Middle East. Who could resist. But it is time to rip the cloak off and talk about domestic issues. If we cannot break through with the facts despite the war ...USA Republicans will be invading some weak country every 4 years. And they will bait any nation that doesn't willingly play their role.

Thanks for the list. It really puts the "con" into perspective.

7. I would call it the wholesale destruction of the New Deal.

They want to return us to the time of the robber barons of the
1920s before the crash.

8. The administrative assistants at my company must work overtime...
They depend on it, partly because the company is so damn cheap with raises.

I will let them know about this bit of anti-worker legislation. Thank you!
