Anyone else find it interesting that Bush's biggest propaganda tool...
...the "domino theory" that democracy (AND FREEDOM!) will spread everywhere if we just establish it in a few places, is really just a relic from the Cold War? the "domino theory" for the spread of communism?

i mean, for all of his insistence that "we live in different times" blah blah blah, "post 9/11 world" with different rules and all of that (especially now, with all of his social security nonsense), his biggest propaganda machine is something that we were using to justify wars half a century ago ...

2. and doesn't that point directly to the "well" (well as in a water well)
Edited on Sun Mar-06-05 04:18 PM by flordehinojos
from which he "draws". i mean, half a century ago (5o years ago) were we not fighting fascism and Nazism? and is not karl rove a/k/a the BUSHES' brothers' brain a man immersed in fascist thought? and is not the same not true for the PNAC? and is that "well" not also what gave his grandfather preston and his great-grandfather george walker all of the wealth and name which he now enjoys?

It is so easy to know from whence this man comes and where he wants to take us to...but people refuse to see...or they want to march right back to the past with him--just so long as they can be a few of those who will reign supreme over all of the rest of us.

3. Oh, its not 'fear'?
I was sure Bush's biggest propaganda tool was FEAR -- but I guess you're going more specific. And strangely, the specific example you pointed out is based less on fear than on ideological utopianism.

5. Biggest weapon?
I gotto say - I think the lap dog corporate press is a greater threat than any recycled idealogical fanatsy about "freedom."

7. We have nothing to fear but fear itself, but unlike FDR Bush does not help
us get over our fears but instead manipulates our fears, and creates new ones, against us.

4. It's still a toss-up between the "domono theory of democracy"
and the "chain reaction of chaos", IMO.
Spiffy cold war terms, both.

6. Shit, we're still IN the cold war
Talk to a right winger for ten minutes about politics. Odds are that he won't be able to go more than five without uttering the word "communtist"

10. I Can Testify to That.
I used to "debate" with the RW, and what you said is true. Many are still hung up about "commies".

9. There is nothing original about these people except for one thing....
they managed to form an axis of Israel (Sharon), Saudi Arabia (House of Saud), and the right wing cabal of the U.S..
