The local College Republicans were out today
I work at a university and I was leaving for home at 5 today. When I drove to the main entrance for the school, I saw that there were some students standing nearby with signs and small flags sticking out of the ground. I recognized them as the College Republicans, who had staged a similar rally at the beginning of the Iraqi conflict. Since the interesection was backed up with rush hour traffic, I was able to observe for a while.

There were about 10 kids holding signs. One was even holding an American flag. The signs I could read were:

WE REMEMBER 9/11/01
GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS
PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN
SUPPORT PRESIDENT BUSH

Compared to the reactions they had last time, not many people responded. An ambulance sounded its siren, and an SUV honked several times. By this time I was able to drive through the intersection, so I continued on home.

Has anyone else encountered something like this today?

1. Why aren't these kids in the Army supporting Bush's policies?

3. Not yet
But I'll see on my way home. A TV reporter said she saw a banner yesterday that said "Osamma who?" on an overpass.

...start handing out enlistment forms, when they refuse to take them, ask them why they don't love America.

I did it- and they scattered like flys.

12. Local Navy Recruiter is a buddy of mine....
He won't give me enlistment forms (he hates having to redo them), but he did hand me 30 copies of his card...I intend to hand one to the next idjit who challenges my patriotism or says something pro-war in Iraq.
(one problem: I hang out with a bunch of people already in the navy, it doesn't work on them...)

6. Surprised nobody ran them over.
Not that I'd advocate something like that.

9. That would be a tragedy.
Because it wouldn't an accident and it certainly wouldn't be a great loss.
