LTTE in They Day: When You Really Think About It, Bush Is OK
http://www.theday.com/eng/web/news/re.aspx?re=29804436-12C8-49A0-8A13-940A9057D8A9>http://www.theday.com/eng/web/news/re.aspx...13-940A9057D8A9

I recently saw a bumper sticker on a car that actually said, “Bush scares me.” This made me giggle and laugh a little. I enjoy political humor. I feel proud to live in a country where citizens can speak out against the government leaders without having their fingers, arms or heads cut off in the public square.

You say Bush scares you? What about Saddam Hussein? Does he make you feel safe and secure? Can you imagine what would happen to you and your family if you had a bumper sticker on your car in Iraq that said “Saddam scares me”? (Now there is something to really be scared about.)

That voice of liberty echoed on that bumper sticker is something we take for granted here in the United States of America. So, if President George W. Bush scares you more than Saddam Hussein or any other tyrant world leader, maybe a few bumper stickers more apropos for you should read: “Bush scares me. . . I'm moving to Iraq” or, better yet, “North Korea, I hear the beaches are very nice” and, of course “Bosnia, live the genocide dream you've always wanted.”

So, as you and your bumper sticker search for a more perfect place to live, I'll prepare a bumper sticker that I know you will eventually like. It reads, “You know what? Maybe Bush isn't so bad after all.”

Guess this guy hasn't heard about the Canadian Muslims, who were deported to Syria by the USA to be tortured, because the Canadian Government passed bad data onto US security forces.

One would think we would hold our leaders to slightly higher standards?

4. The writer talks as if the U.S. is the policeman of the world.
WhatsHisFace may not be literally cutting off our hands, but he's proving himself to be a fascist in so many other ways.

7. If you're not pro-bush you're pro Saddam
If you're not pro-war, you hate the troops.

If you're not pro-preemptive invasion, you're a terrorist sympathizer.

9. bush* absolutely scares me more than Saddam!!!!
Saddam could not affect my daily life or my future in ANY way even if he wanted to do so.

bush* has lessened the quality of life for ALL Americans through gutting Environmental Controls, imposed HUGH taxes on the Middle Class, the Young, and the yet to be born, made Education unattainable to millions, created millions of Osama's who WANT to harm America (Saddam never threatened us).

So YEAH, bush* scares me MORE than Saddam!!!!

10. I guess relatavism is a relative thing.
Saying Bush scares me doesn't mean that you'd rather live in Iraq. It's the old 'if you don't like Bush then you can leave america' type bullshit.

Saddam was/is a scary son of a bitch. Nobody is saying they'd rather live under Saddam than Bush (that I know of...if they did they're amazingly stupid).

The point is that relatively speaking he's still freaking scary. Just because he's not gassing thirty thousand other americans in Vermont doesn't mean he's hunky dory.

I guess that's too complex a thought for some people to have though.

"Well he's not Hitler so he must be a good guy!"

12. Here's my response to Mr. LeBlanc's LTTE
I just sent it to The Day, so won't know for a while if the will publish it.

Jim LeBlanc wrote, “You say Bush scares you? What about Saddam Hussein? …Can you imagine what would happen to you and your family if you had a bumper sticker on your car in Iraq that said “Saddam scares me?”

It’s true that the bumper sticker “Bush scares me!” doesn’t convey the truth about the actual situation here. It should say, “Democracy terrifies Bush!”

If Bush is better than Saddam (My what low standards Mr. LeBlanc has!), why does he fear dissent by stocking his campaign stops with pro-Bush stooges, who won’t challenge his corrupt policies, broken promises, and deceitful rhetoric?

If Bush is better than Saddam, why does Bush fear American citizens exercising their Constitutional Rights by keeping non-violent anti-Bush protesters, out of his sight during his scheduled visits? Neither Bill Clinton nor Al Gore did that.

If Bush is better than Saddam, why does Bush fear the United States Constitution by sending innocent Muslims, like those from Canada, to Syria at US Taxpayer expense to be tortured by Syrians, and by championing the anti-Civil Rights passages in the Patriot Act?

If Bush is better than Saddam, why does Bush fear telling the Truth about his plans for this nation by blatantly misleading the American people about Iraq’s WMD’s, Social Security’s solvency, No Child Left Behind bill, tax cuts, etc.?

It sounds like Mr. LeBlanc hasn’t been paying attention to how the Bush-Cheney Administration is the most corrupt and deceitful Administration since Richard Nixon. I suggest he read John Dean’s book “Worse than Watergate.”
