Four RCMP officers shot dead in Northern Alberta

In Rochfort Bridge about 130 kilometres North of Edmonton four RCMP officers were shot and killed during a raid on a Marijuanna grow-operation. Initially the army was called in, but stood down when it was indicated to them the situation had been resolved.
Details are unclear right now as to how the shooting started.

Its all about who has the $$ to bribe high enough up I guess.

If it was me I would have throw up a smokescreen, THAT would have provided plenty of cover to escape.

15. Rochfort Bridge consists of about 20 houses and a hotel.

Mopre likely it's an acreage. The land is marginal for crop farming so many of the original farmers have sold out to neoghbours. Mostly used for cattle pasture, there are a lot of "extra" farmhouses and yards often rented out to make a buck on rent.

The source said the four officers went to a farmhouse near Rochfort Bridge where they surprised a lone male suspect, who shot them with a high-powered rifle before killing himself.

A fifth RCMP officer, who was in the area on an unrelated stolen property investigation, discovered the bodies, the source said.

17. Story is unclear - CBC suggests an ambush.

Their story is that the cops were staking out the location as part of an investigation, and they were surprised by the gunman. Still, one guy taking out four cops, that's unheard of.
