Marine Corps to add more recruiters over next two years
The Marine Corps will add recruiters to its ranks over the next two years as those tasked with selling service in the Corps face an increasingly tough mission, according to Marine officials.

The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have been a drain on the field. Assignments managers in the Corps have had to put orders for recruiting duty for many Marines on hold as their units have gotten orders for combat duty.

“What the recruiters are telling us is that they have to spend more time with the parents,” Marine Corps commandant Gen. Michael Hagee told reporters last week. “Parents have influence, and rightly so, on the decision these young men and woman are going to make.

In January, recruiters — for the first time in years — failed to meet their internal goals for signed new contracts, Griesmer said, missing the mark by 2 percent, or 84 of the 3,270 volunteers they’d hoped to sign up.

2. Those 300 more =6 more in every state
Parents need to go to their High Schools when recruiters are there speaking and talking to their sons and daughters. If you don't believe in this "farce" then don't allow them to buy your kids into it with promises that are already being destroyed before they are written. All the many promises to vets of WWII, Korea, VN, Gulf war, and all other US military actions are being denied and eroded away every day. No hospital or domiciliary care, no medicine, no education funding, and already vets from Iraq and Afghanistan are being billed for some care and food when they spend whole days in out patient for rehab, fresh bandages, and prosthesis training. This country is not nice today and is continuing down the path of genocide in every form. If they come back alive and can't go back they are of no use to this regime!
The one thing they haven't denied yet is burial! Tell your children not to expect more!

Now over 1/4 of 1000 posts! A surprise to even me! Too old smart, too dumb to quit.

8. Welcome to DU, Oneold1-4u
Great post! :toast:

The expendable, "fungible" troops.

Americans have not yet grokked that their troops are involved in a GENOCIDE that ALSO includes THEM and their families...

What will it take?

10. An 18 y.o. about to graduate told me the other day
"My father is in the military, my grandfather was in the military, my great grandfather....now it's my turn. My dad doesn't want me to go. He was in Iraq, and he said it was too dangerous, but I want to learn to be a mechanic so I can work on foreign cars. Foreign car mechanics make a lot of money, and I can learn on the job if I join the army."

If Dad can't stop this kid, I had little hope of doing so other than to say, "I agree with your dad."

The naive kids of America are ripe for the Bushy picking. Soon, they'll be picked off in Iraq. It's sad to see it devolve into that.

13. Train him for a month, maybe, give him an M-16
or whatever weapon is being used these days, put him in a no-armored humvee against people trying to defend their homeland, and this 18 year old greenhorn doesn't stand much of a chance.

The military parent who made it through 20 years, leaving in relative good health, may be spending his retired years nursing a brain damaged, blinded, or amputated child.

4. Wouldn't it be hilarious if they hired like 75,000 recruiters and then
turned the tables on them and made the recruiters fight the war?

5. The "Corps" was known as the the "Crotch" when I was in.
And, the term wasn't used fondly by the inmates of that ultimate asylum.

9. I haven't read the book, but he is correct.
Another frequently heard saying: "Eat the apple and fuck the corps."

11. Get in these liar's faces. Shame them every chance you get.
Their sole purpose is to find cannon fodder. Period.

That ain't "just a job," these days, folks. It is enabling crimes against humanity.

How do these pieces of shit sleep at night?
