Does the GOP really want to outlaw Abortion?
I know there are many members of the rank and file who do, but when it comes to the top brass, I think they're happy with things the way they are.

Abortion is much too useful and lucrative to them as a wedge issue.

If they actually won the day and managed to get abortion outlawed in all 50 states, they'd lose the money and support of a lot of single issue voters.

1. They own doctors
they get what the want and need regardless of law.
Don't believe me, ask Rush Limbaugh.

So they don't care if you or your Daughter dies of a backstreet alley job. You are poor, and deserve it. Only their abortion is moral.

2. The GOP does not want to outlaw abortion
Abortion is a political tool for the Republicans. Being self-righteous about abortion is an easy way to get the religious vote. By taking a moral position on abortion it allows the Republicans do avoid taking a moral position on other issues.

Abortion has lots of utility for the Republicans.

3. They just use it as an election ploy. I think it's just too complex
to make it illegal. For one thing, women are going to get abortions whether it's legal or not - been there, done that. I also think that if it's made illegal, then anyone the woman confides in should be arrested for aiding and abetting, unless they turn her in to the cops, so that issue would open up a whole can of worms. I would love to see a comparison of women who get abortions, whether there are more Dems or Repubs or is it about even.

4. They want it outlawed until they are raped...
or their daughter gets pregnant. But when that happens, they'll just fly someplace where medical procedures are available... just like the guy why railed against stem cell research until he could benefit from the research (I can't find a link -- anybody know?)

6. No way
they need it to run on every 2 years. They have no intention of prohibiting it.

8. Well, call me a nutcase. . .
. . .but given the fact that we've just about outsourced every other industry this country has ever had, I wouldn't put it past the Repubs to want to outlaw abortion solely so they could start a baby exporting business.

9. Abortion isn't an issue with me, children are.
I put up a post about "no child left behind" which got left behind. Stop the abortion thing please liberals if you are liberals, it doesn't merit discussion.

10. Of course not abortion, gun control and gay marriage
are the best issues they have to divide the country.
