New book: "Start Making Sense" with Dean, Hightower, Thomas Frank
Here is Dean's wonderful interview from January this year at Alternet, a sample from the book.
http://www.alternet.org/story/20878

SNIP..."What about unions and the ideas Andy Stern is pushing to revitalize the labor movement? The SEIU was a big supporter of yours.

Well, some unions are different than others ... the union movement has many of the same problems we've been talking about. You have to go with renewal. Andy Stern understands that we have to have change. He is a good friend and he is key. But I want to give John Sweeney a lot of credit. Sweeney began the outreach to immigrants and low-wage workers. The labor movement needs economic and social justice.

What about the job as head of the DNC – how is it going?

Well, that is a complicated background dance, behind the scenes with the some of same phenomenon we're talking about here – the need for change. There is enormous angst in Democratic Party, among those who are running it, whose grip is slipping and the push toward decentralization...."

Here is the website to purchase the book, not out yet.

Here is the cover showing all the great contributors.

Just what DUers have been posting about for ages!

4. That part was very interesting.
The decentralization will be hard for everyone. It will be a learning process as well.

5. Have you seen this article?
SNIPS~:D

Jackson Mayor Harvey Johnson Jr., a Democrat who's seeking re-election, gave Dean a key to the capital city and told him: "You're already upsetting Republicans here in Mississippi. Keep up the good work."

Tuesday night's gathering was an appreciation dinner for state Democratic elected officials. In the crowd were several state lawmakers, former Lt. Gov. Evelyn Gandy and former Govs. Ronnie Musgrove, Ray Mabus, Bill Allain and William Winter.

Before Dean's speech, throngs of people went to the head table to get his autograph or to pose for pictures with him.

Winter, who's known Dean for a decade, said the new DNC leader is "willing to speak hard truths" about the needs of the country.
"He brings a sense of organization, great enthusiasm and great ideas for the country," Winter said.

7. Its time to show what real populists look like.
We cant ride our movement through official channels anymore and the old dems will just have to deal with it.

America needs to be reminded why it needs to be liberal again.

11. Now that is really odd.
Can they just change book covers and formats like that? I really don't like the yellow one, but the other does not make much sense.
