Hey, No Matter Which Candidate You Support, Can We Agree on One Thing?
Edited on Thu Sep-11-03 01:59 PM by Composed Thinker
No matter which candidate you support, can we agree that 2004 can and hopefully will be an excellent race? I am excited for our chances.

1. I don't want it to be an "excellent race"
I don't want it to be an "excellent race." I don't want us just to win, I want it to be not even close. I want Bush and Republicanism and conservatism and right-wing ideology to be thoroughly repudiated by the American people. I want a complete wipe-out of those fascist a-holes. Okay, maybe that is a fantasy, but maybe it isn't. However, if all we accomplish is to barely recapture the White House, I won't be excited, I'll be merely enormously relieved. And if The Usurper "wins" another term, ohmigod, shudder and cringe, that's a prospect too horrible to contemplate...

2. These are truly historic and volatile times; it's thrilling and scary
Much as I've joined in the fray and been difficult in the self-appointed service of what I see right, I want dialogue kept open; this is what makes us strong. It's going to be a hell of a year, and I'm not so disgusted as before at the state of affairs.

Fight for your candidates, folks, and keep your hearts, eyes and ears as open as your mouths. When the group choice is made for a Democratic candidate, much as the person may gall you, let's rally and pull in every feckless non-voter and misguided Republican we can.

These are great times.

3. You bet
I see it as a great opportunity to expose Bush and his ilk for what they are. I want a candidate who will hammer him with the issues. Nothing he's done has been good or even vaguely competent. I think we can expose the evils of pre-emptive violence and the bankruptcy of trickle-down, once and for all.

4. Oh yeah. A prime time for some serious election fraud.
Mark my words Bush and Repugs will not give up without a fight. I mean, fraud.

5. Dubya is likely history
IMHO, either Dean or Kerry will beat him in November 2004.

The worst for Dubya is yet to come.

7. I'd like to see a race
that doubles as an ongoing and honest debate about our society, its place in the world, the people that make it up, and where we're headed. That would be an "excellent race" to me.

You can stop laughing now...
