1. Some are good
and some aren't. But that's only part of it. There's a certain amount of "marketing" that has to be done, too, to get readers.

3. good list
I'll add 'well written' to it - it doesn't have to be brilliant, but at least edited for spelling and grammatical errors.

My favorite is http://jameswolcott.com - he takes a good swipe at Lieberman today.

4. "The Daily Howler" and "Liberal Oasis" are popular,
and they only have one new post a day.

6. The NY Times is good because it does its own
investigations.

And becuase it's editorial page includes Paul Krugman, Bob Herbert, and Maureen Dowd.

8. For me, some of them mirror
my own thoughts, so I read them for validation....some of them seem to offer an expertise in areas in which I know nothing. I was interested to read that Elizabeth Edwards has a whole list of blogs she reads every day. I have to confess that I get up an hour early just to read my own long list of blogs before getting ready for work...and then check in on them during the day. Blogs I cannot do without:

www.juancole.com
www.mydd.com
www.dailykos.com
www.talkingpointsmemo.com
www.blogforamerica.com
www.atrios.blogspot.com
www.oliverwillis.com
www.jameswolcott.com

I am ashamed to admit it, but I also check in on www.wonkette.com daily too, sigh. Also check Keith when I can't watch his program, and check in on Digby about once a week.

I love answering the Zogby poll regularly. He always asks where I get my news, and I always answer "the internet."
