Ok, so there obviously wasn't such a letter, but some clear message to key dems and media would be enough to silence the whole pack.

Of course I couldn't say this in - ahem - public. I don't have enough evidence, and I never will. But I've been banging my head over why there is no dog in this fight, and this was the best I could speculate.

2. And...It's the OIL Stupid

Energy...the precursor to any economic activity.

US uses 20m bpd only produces around 5m bpd.
North American natural gas has peaked.
Remember Cheney's energy task force documents ?

Peak oil explains everything from US military action to Democrat's lack of fight, to China scouring the globe for energy deals.
Oil is up 500% from '99 lows.
Non-Opec oil has clearly peaked. That leaves OPEC.
Just imagine if the world didn't take dollars for oil.
THAT is the possible nightmare awaiting the 'world's only superpower' and the reason all the 'terrorists' just happen to be in areas of large energy deposits.

It's quite sobering to think of Cheney's words...'this is a war that will not end in our lifetime'. Gonna only get uglier...

5. Actually Iraq had just switched to trading Oil in Euros....

... and then it magically became part of the axis of evil.

Other interesting facts is that North Korea was also toying with the idea of having its debt in Euros. Iran was starting to consider trading oil in Euros.... and then baaam... axis of evil.

Venezuela has also threatened a transfer to the Euro standard. Chavez has been in trouble ever since. Theoretically if Putin was to change Russia's oil trade from dollars to Euro's tomorrow, it could be the single worst day for the American economy in all its history.

And they wonder why the French-German axis which are the ones who control most of the Euro policies were not thrilled about sending troops to help the US dollar.

Unfortunately most Americans claim to love capitalism, yet few of them have flying clue of how capitalism works. I am afraid that ignorance is not bliss when it comes to reality. Good luck once the Chinese and the Europeans figure out how to gear alternative markets, they will no longer need to float the dollar to keep the lazy, fat Americans as happy buyers. Bush/Cheney and their gang are playing hardball against the world, but in reality everyone know they have a massive glass house as their only protection. Not only that they thing that they can get away with borrowing money from the rest of the world to bully those countries they are borrowing money from. I am afraid W and Cheney slept through way too many basic econ classes... god help us all.

After the Anthrax scare he became a changed man. He was no longer an opposition figure. He was no longer inspiring for Democrats to re-elect. At least with a Republican in office you are assured where they stand. I hate DINOs.
