5. 2 quick comments...

1. The damn dog only weighed 12 pounds. I'm reasonably sure he could have put it in the "bed, which was a permanent enclosure in the family room" without beating the poor thing. We have a 5-month-old, 55-lb puppy who has never seen a belt (except for the one he chewed up, an offense which certainly did not warrant a beating).

2. "Whenever a youngster moves into a new neighborhood or a new school district, he usually has to fight (either verbally or physically) to establish himself in the hierarchy of strength." - OMG, my kids are totally abnormal. We moved to this neighborhood almost 5 years ago, and not one fight yet!
