I was just tapping out a couple of paragraphs of a post in a thread only to find that, when I clicked on Post message, the thread had been locked. Man, that is frustrating! What do you do?

1. It's happened to me
I move on with my life. If the moderators have decided it's leading to a flame war, I figure it's not really my place to start a new thread just so I can continue the war.

3. if you're suggesting my question here is to continue somebody's war,
you are jumping to a faulty conclusion. I haven't been in any today.

7. No I'm not suggesting that exactly
Not that you are trying to continue a flame, but the only reasons I can think that it would be locked are if it were too long, in which case they'd start a new thread, or if the subject itself is causing a flame war. Maybe your comment isn't fueling the flame directly, but the subject itself is bringing out the worst in people at the moment?

That's what happened to me, I didn't feel like I was personally flaming anyone, but the subject was bringing it out in people. It happens.

grrrr

(Some people apparently start whole new threads, but that's not a suggestion :))

(on edit... that was supposed to be funny :))

6. yes! but I see that others must feel the same way, and they do manage
to continue on a similar train of thought elsewhere--very gingerly, I guess :)

I was not involved in the thread that caught fire. My post was going to be rather on the benign side. I take so long to type my thoughts sometimes that I guess things exploded by the time I was ready to refresh the screen. I was able to post it elsewhere though, thanks.
