What is DU's lowest common denominator?

Are there any topics on which all, or at least an overwhelming majority, of DUers agree?

I think that there are some very broad points of agreement. For example, that * is a bad president. However, for each concrete policy of his administration, you can find some DUers that agree with them.

Likewise, almost all DUers seem to believe that black people, women, homosexuals and other groups are unfairly discriminated in today's America. However, there's wide disagreement on the extent on the problems, and an even wider disagreement on the possible solutions.

What are the ideas or concepts that keep us together, despite our sometimes deep disagreement on almost everything?

2. That treatment...
... I think, also involves some universal sense of civil, political and social justice. A concern for basic human rights seems to define most of the people here, even if they disagree on the details at times.

3. LCD is not really the right phrase
It kinda suggests "how low can you go" as in TV commonly appeals to the lowest common denominator. I think what you are looking for are "core values" or "essential platform". Betrand Russell said, that "unless you agree on the basics, no dialogue is possible". So what are the basics that most of us agree on? I am not going to attempt that kind of summary. Probably there is a crowd of people ready to chime in about the parts they disagree with.
