A woman stops D.Rumfeld during his speech - What do you think about that ?
Edited on Thu Sep-11-03 05:06 AM by BonjourUSA
"National Press Club" meeting - A woman accused publicly Rummy to base his politic on the lie. He didn't answer.

I think it's a courageous behavior. A little bit hystericÉ But courageous

2. I saw that.................
she went on for quite some time before being silenced. I would rather have seen the look on Rummies face during the outburst, but the cameras were trained on her. She did a fine job.

Anyone who has the opportunity to challenge these liars in a public , televised forum should do so. Good for her!

6. "Mr. Rumsfeld, You're FIRED!"
The look on his face before the cameras swung away was pure "Whaaaaa? Who DARES????"

7. Hysterical?
Do you know the history of that word? It derives from the Greek word for uterus & describes female misbehavior attributed to uterine disorders. It was a popular diagnosis until the early 20th century & a good excuse to keep women out of public life.

If you wish to define behavior anatomically, let's discuss the men at the Press Club, meekly accepting Rumsfeld's lies without complaint. Perhaps they were lacking something vital.

Well said. Well aimed!

PS: After some thought. Some of those docile reporters were women, don't forget.

25. I would not like to stir up the war of the sexes.

In France "hysteric" is now in the ordinary language. It is used for the women but for the men too. It describes a behavior without "medical" allusion.

Find another word because my english is too much basic to do it. And excuse me if I have shocked you. As French that is a lapse :*

28. Épater les bourgeoises, eh?
Edited on Thu Sep-11-03 11:21 AM by BurtWorm
;)

It's actually in the ordinary language here, too, and few people know or think about its physiological origin. Though, more and more do since feminists pointed this out in the 1970s.

What's a better, more politic word? I don't know. I didn't see her outburst. Unrestrained? Je ne sais pas.

11. It was a brave gesture, but
she sounded shrill and incoherent. I wish she had kept it simple. That look on Rummy’s face was absolutely chilling. An evil, sadistic smirk.

24. look, I'm not trying to put her down
I just don't think she was persuasive to anyone not already on her side. Stuff like this is heartening to those of us who opposed the invasion of Iraq, but to most people it just looks like a 19-year-old having a silly tantrum. Believe me, I certainly don't know what the answer to this problem is and I wish I did.

13. Bonjour BonjouUSA,! Yes they are very courageous indeed!
Cheney was asked by Mayor Bloomberg not to attend the WTC site memorial today for "security" reasons. I think it was for two reasons actually, the families know protesters will come and secondly, a lot of the families did not want him there!

16. In norfolk when Ashcroft was here a man stood up in the middle of his
speech to the invited officers and yelled questions about free speech in this country before being excorted out. Over 100 people were protesting outside. It made our local news on tv and press.
