Poll: Majority of Americans want troops to start coming home
A majority of Americans think it is time for the United States to start bringing troops home from Iraq and they have little faith in the war-torn country soon becoming a stable democracy, a nationwide poll reported Friday.

Asked about the chances for Iraq being a stable democracy two years from now, 22 percent of Americans questioned by Marist College's Institute for Public Opinion said that was not at all likely while 39 percent said it was not very likely. Just 6 percent of those polled said it was very likely that Iraq would have a stable democracy two years from now.

Twenty-three percent of those polled said it was time to withdraw at least some troops from Iraq while 33 percent said it was time to withdraw all U.S. troops. Twelve percent of Americans said the United States should send more troops to Iraq.

Forty-three percent of the registered Democrats polled said it was time to get all the troops out while just 10 percent of Republicans said bring them all home now.
"The findings reflect the general sense the war is not going well," said Lee Miringoff, head of the Poughkeepsie, N.Y.-based polling institute.

1. "the war is not going well"
Now there's an understatement. WHEN did it "go well"?

"WAR" goes "well"? Humm... Idiocy.

2. poll: Majority of Americans voted for the wrong president
Dumbshits. Thanks to the "majority of Americans", we'll almost certainly be keeping troops there until every drop of oil has been drilled.

I feel really sad for the American soldiers in Iraq, they're going to return home from a country that hates their guts to a country that doesn't give a flying fuck. They don't deserve to be a political hockey puck, but imperial bushco makes it unavoidable.

8. well said
For all the training they do, it's ironic that they should find themselves in such a trap.

3. I have a feeling that a 'majority' of the lunkheads in this country don't
know about the 14 military bases. Then maybe there'd be a little more concern and noise in regard to our troops coming home.

What boggles my mind even more is what the hell do people think is going to happen in Smirky & Co. start attacking other countries like Iran and Syria? Do they think our troops will be coming home then? Hell no, they'll crank up a draft and start sending people over there like crazy.

5. If 99% wanted the troops home within whatever time frame...
it would matter zero to the Bush Junta. They will have troops there until their interests are done.
