My thoughts on 9/11 and the aftermath (2 years later)....
Edited on Thu Sep-11-03 01:08 AM by jab105
I think the worst thing about the Bush administration is that the unity felt after 9/11 could have resulted in a world united against terrorism...the feeling by people all around the world was incredible....and Bush completely squandered, misused, and abused that goodwill.....

We live in a society that is ruled by "fear"...

I like: "There is nothing to fear but fear itself"...

but that is not the motto of the Bush administration....

I hate the Patriot/Total Information Awareness/Victory/Patriot 2 Acts...

I hate the "war in Iraq"...

I hate that Bush doesn't MENTION the words Osama Bin Laden, and hasn't for a year now....

I hate that Bush linked 9/11 to Iraq to justify a pre-emptive invasion of a sovereign country that has resulted in most countries thinking that they should fear us more than terrorists, because he has taken such advantage ...

I hate that there are "free speech zones" half a mile away from the president....

I hate that this country could have become a better nation after 9/11, my gosh, I remember talking to my dad and saying that I supported the president 100% at that time, I remember arguing with someone at that time who questioned Bush....I remember when 90% of the nation was firmly behind the president because we all hoped so furvently that he would do the right thing...

I hate that (IMO) he has not....

I hate that this country has become something that other countries don't want to be, when we used to be admired...

America has gained more from setting an example of freedom and democracy to the world then it ever has and/or could gain by war and fear...

My favorite quote:

"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power."
- Abraham Lincoln

1. wow. Great Lincoln quote.
I gotta remember that one.

And I hear ya.

America is a much worse country than it was before 9/11 and I think most of us were hoping something good MIGHT come out of 9/11 to actually make us better.

It's sad.
