Just ran up to the store for beer & gas. It just went up to $1.82 /gallon
there was a lady came in right behind me and said "sixty four dollars to fill up my tank?" (She was driving a pigboat SUV type "Suburban", I think it was...with several of those yellow ribbon thingys on it)

I filled up my old Honda Civic for 20 bucks and it'll last me a couple weeks. It's old and ugly but by gawd, it's cheap to run. ;-)

4. :) That's what I thought.
I'd love a gallon of Shiner Bock right now, especially for only a couple of bucks.

7. Yeah, I understand, it's just that historically, gas around here (Okla) is
generally about the cheapest in the country. Usually. ;-)

15. Wait a danged minute!
You mean it's not cheaper to pump your own gas?? I'm here in self-serve Oregon (one of many reasons I live here, though once lived in Seattle and love visiting there), and the folks who won't quit pushing for pump-your-own always assure us the stuff would be lots cheaper if it weren't for those high-paid attendants who do it for us. I'm just an old gray-haired lady who'd rather not fiddle with that gas nozzle, thank you very much, but have thought on occasion that the cheaper petrol might be worth it. Alas, it seems it would not be so...and thus I will keep voting no on self-serve.

No sales tax here, either. Just thought I'd throw that in.

Lotsa fond memories of Seattle...met my spouse there back in the 60s and we're still together. Maybe it was the sea air!

21. Voting on Self Serve?
Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 02:16 AM by Fescue4u
This is a ballot issue? wow. I wish we had Oregons kind of problems :)

So I take it that self-serve is currently illegal then? Thats kind of hard to comprehend.

Sometimes Im amazed at the difference between states. On the extremes, it can be like traveling to different countries.

I wonder if there any states the criminalize full service?

It's filled up and lasted a good while. Only places I go is out to dinner sometimes with my family, school and church. I'm not a big shopper and stuff like that so gas last's in my car a good while (I have an altima).

14. Where abouts in GR do you reside??
I'm on the west side of Lowell, just east of Ada. I didn't think that there'd be anyone else from GR round these parts as all of town is sooooooo republican :(
