Oprah's Season Opener - Arnold and Maria

This coming Monday, Arnold and Maria will be Oprah's guests. Remember
how Bush's poll number went up after his appearance on her show?
He acted like the perfect hubby and best daddy and sooo many
woman fell for it and good old Oprah just loved him. Well, she's
giving Arnold an entire hour to show what a great family man he
is. Oprah is such a traitor - she pretends to care but she sells
out the poor and working class every chance she gets - even Aaron
McGrudder can't stand her and has voiced his distain for her many
times. Guess she can't help but love the Bushies - her tax cut must
be amazing. This just makes me sick - one hour of free
campaign time with millions of woman watching and Maria gazing
lovingly at Arnold. What a joke.

. . .I do not support Arnold's candidacy, but Oprah, Maria and Arnold are long time friends and it only happens to be one of the biggest stories of the year. Sometimes the we on the DU just need to grow up!

3. Oprah does not have a political show.

It's cool if you don't like it (I'm not crazy about it either), but her show is not like Tweety's or GE Russert's.

Her show is kind of...afternoon stuff with some current events thrown in. She's not some political powerhouse.

That said, Maria Shriver is a close, longtime personal friend of Oprah's and probably called in a favor. Not to mention, Arnold is pretty big news these days. Maria Shriver is a Kennedy, for god's sake, that marriage is still baffling to me.

Don't worry, though, millions of women may be watching, but all of them don't live in California.

4. Agreed...Now imagine if Oprah used her powers for good...

I didn't have any opinion of her prior to her Bush love-fest. Just thought she was/is a shrewd businesswoman.

5. Why do people hyperventilate about the Bush show?

I mean, she had Gore on first (in fact, it was the season opener so the ads got WAY more play than Bush's), and asked Gore to give her a hug.

A week later, she has on Bush, he kisses on the cheek because he's a moron (and it was unsolicited), she raises a few good points about Texas leading the country (or being one of the leaders) in death penalty executions...

and it was a Bush "love-fest"? It was clear to me which of the two she preferred, but she handled herself like a professional and was mostly fair with both.
