Chris Rock joke:
“Bush is not stupid. All you people who say that are wrong. You can’t be an idiot and get to be president. You gotta give the guy a little credit. Anyone that’s smart enough to get that far has got to be just acting dumb.”

6. Sure you can - you just need a Rove to inhabit your body & mind
& clean up your vomit for the 2 decades before you run. That is all it takes... and a mystical family name.

4. They will be all set to turn up the volume of the boos emanating
from the cheap seats and the stage hands, as usual.

12. You just made that up!!! There are never boos from the cheap seats
Wow - you love causing class conflict. But only when it works in your favour.

Personally - I think that the news should cover the problems and trials of Rich people at least 4% of the time. That would be fair eh? And think how much we could learn:

Rhotodendrine blight can hurt your tea roses - discuss!

How to decide if Skipper's Jr. membership at the club is being overused?

Is breast surgery on Molly going too far when she is 16?

7. I hope he tells a hundred jokes about Gannon- this is the only thing we
Edited on Wed Feb-23-05 03:49 PM by Prodemsouth
can do to go after them. Bush's base does not know about Gannon yet or the details of the story. Trust me some of my co-workers are in that camp- they don't even know who Gannon is- I found this out at lunch today. It is his so called moderate apologist that are the ones defending the WH by accusing us of "homophobia" and shit. We need to hit hard on this.

8. imho, politics and bashing don't belong at the Oscars
Self-deprecating humor aimed at Hollywood and the film industry, sure, political posturing? No.

11. I gotta agree....As much as I'd enjoy it.....
It isn't the time or place for such things....unless, of course, some acceptance speech gives an opening.....

15. Look Michael Moore made fun of himself at the last Oscars - all things
that are topical are open to discuss. There is no silencing 'for security reasons' at the Oscars.

You feel anxiety about it but the thing with comedians is that by punching through to Truths ... you will feel a release of anxiety in the end.

Karl Rove does not want that "release" of anxiety to happen: he has been building America's anxiety high for a long time now..and it makes you very easy to control (by all your fears). Chris Rock may just be saving your ass.

Don't you want to feel 'relieved'?

18. I agree. Anything really worth saying would be out of place.
I thought Moore went to far for the occasion, myself, even though I agreed with every word.

9. I am so happy. And I am so happy it will be Chris Rock doing it.
This is wonderful news. I will be at my t.v. and watching every minute of it (I usually skip the 3 hours in the middle). A chance to - to apologize to the WHOLE WORLD!! A chance for Americans to reconnect to their humanity. Chris Rock is so talented & keen too.

I can only imagine the voluntary 'help' Chris will be getting from all the Hollywood writers (not that he needs it). I am sure it will be the most poignant thing on TV. To speak the truth of his life.

And only Hollywood and a comedian would have such power over totalitarians & Utopians. Sociopaths do not know the "emotional value" of words and that is why comedians and people who feel things and think are their worst enemies. This is why Hollywood was targeted to begin with.

By the way... when are the OSCARS?

20. “I just rented Head of State, and I want my four bucks back,”
the driver told Rock. With that, the signal turned green and the two cars inched forward to the next light.

All of a sudden, a wadded-up $5 bill came sailing through the driver’s window.

“Keep the change!” yelled Rock, all smiles as he drove off.

LOL, what's not to like? :)

I didn't like Chris Rock that much until I saw the excerpts from his stand-up that Moore put in Bowling for Columbine. That bit about $5,000 for a bullet was great :). "I'd shoot your ass . . . if I could afford it."
