Black Republicans demand apology from Dean
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,147894,00.html

Apology Demanded

Two prominent African-American Republicans have demanded an apology from the new DNC Chairman Howard Dean for saying at a Democratic Black Caucus meeting last week, "You think the Republicans could get this many people of color in a single room? Only if they had the hotel staff in here."

And in a joint statement, Maryland Lieutenant Governor Michael Steele and former Oklahoma Congressman J.C. Watts say they are outraged over the insensitive and intolerable remarks. Adding, "This kind of backward thinking remind us of a horrible time in history, when blacks were seen as servants." But the chair of the caucus says Dean's remarks were well received, insisting they were, "A statement of fact" and Steele and Watts are blowing things out of proportion.

Uh huh. Dean was right. If they're demanding an apology then they don't know what he said. :eyes:

40. I'm glad you mentioned that!
I've been seeing these "get a government grant" infomercials on local tv being repeated over and over. I saw Watts and wondered how he had sunk so low as a politician to be doing one of these.

13. HILARIOUS! BOTH of the black republicans are mad!
Oh, wait, Condi hasn't chimed in yet.

Remember how the GOP was predicting that in 2004, blacks would increasingly vote GOP, that they might get as much as 20% of the black vote. Well, unlike FosNews-addled white suburbanites, black folks are NOT that stupid, and continued to vote 95% democratic.

Now if only poor whites were that sensible...

21. As I said Dean and CBC should have responded to this publicly
slapping the repugs down publicly. I read another article written by a Black author deriding Dems about this same thing. Author said she was a chambermaid at a hotel and got to hear repugs speak about rising up and not looking to the gov't and she did just that, went to college got her degree. YES, THERE ARE BLACKS OUT THERE WHO FALL FOR THIS STUFF AND DEAN SHOULD HAVE JUMPED ON IT ALREADY.

32. Apology for stating the truth? That Repukes use blacks only as servants
except for the one or two token Blacks they have?

That's what Dean was saying. Repukes will have Blacks serve them at their events, but that they don't elect them to Congress!

Fuck the racist Repukes. Let's see how many Blacks they can get elected in 06 and 08 and who gets 90+% of the Black vote.

They are really reaching here. fuckers.

34. Dean could point out that in a trickle down economy --
-- with moron presidents handing out tax cuts to the wealthy, the only jobs available are jobs such as the ones he mentioned, and that ANYBODY doing them deserves better.

If Watts and the others have an insight on how to persuade that moron president how to assist in REAL economic democracy, they should address their concerns to that moron president instead of grandstanding against our Chairman.

Maybe I should say oxymorans in this case. Prominent African-American republicans? They're only "prominent" when they're shilling for the BFEE. The republicans are feeling uncomfortable about Dean telling the truth, so they have to trot out the flunkies.

How much are these two getting for their ranting?
