Is 24 Right Wing?
Overlooking the fact it's on FOX and the plots deal with people who fight terrorism and therefore must have a certain hard-line stanch is there any other indications?

What I've noticed is this season's emphases on torture against innocent suspects ala Abu Gharib. So far they have justified torturing two people who had nothing to do with the terrorists.

In particular, I feel there was an extra zeal to punish the Defense Secretary's son due to the fact he was a liberal who disagreed with his father's hawkish policies (his father even telling him "don't give me that Micheal Moore crap" when he wanted to attend a protest).
I could almost sense the producers intended for some wingnuts in the audience to feel a certain Ann Coulter satisfaction of seeing him tortured, more because he was a liberal than had information.

Then there was the fact, some Neocons were upset over 24's disclaimer regarding middle easterners the week before. I don't remember the name or link, but one blonde Coulter-clone on some AM station in Bum Fuck Ohio somewhere was rallying against Fox's "political correctness" in airing that disclaimer. The flavor seemed to be that how dare a show that was willing portray all terrorists as Muslims say otherwise due to "liberal" pressures or Muslims being offended.

1. I love the show
I look at the torture scenes as a lesson to all that torture is wrong for many reasons, IE: you could be torturing innocent people.

3. I think they kinda made a statement AGAINST torture.
They tortured two people who had absolutely no information to offer.

Especially when they tortured Agent Sarah when she was falsely acused. One can only hope she gets a big ass raise for her trouble.

7. To equate 24 with Birth of a Nation
is absolutely absurd and shows you can't have seen both works. 24 does have its right wing elements but also its left wing ones. I think it is a pretty even show. Birth of a Nation is notoriously racist. They aren't even close to in the same league.

8. Are we going to have this thread every week until the season ends?
The plotlines change so quickly it's hard to find a political point of view.

But I imagine any show that's shown a black president is hardly right-wing.

9. Yeah, I couldn't imagine ...
... a female, black Secretary of State in a right-wing government, either.

That would never happen. Ol' GW must be a stinkin' liberal if that logic is employed.
